anyway to silence the boot screen?

A hassle? Really?

I would agree, I never turn my phone on silent. excluding rare trips to a movie theater or a plane ride.

its definitely a hassle to do this before every reboot, not hard but just a hassle to remember.

you can do this through adb, go to xda developers to learn how if you don't

these were instructions to remove the boot sounds of the fresh rom, but should work just the same.

connect your phone... drop to command line
adb remount
adb shell mv /system/media/android_audio.mp3 /system/media/android_audio.bak
adb shell reboot

This will keep the sound there (as android_audio.bak) in case you ever want it back.

You need to have a rooted phone to modify anything in /system/*. So this would not work for most people.
