Root Coolest thing you have done with your rooted phone

Ya I need to get me a wiimote. Why havent they made one that works with the ps3 controller. Which is also bluetooth right?

I would LOVE to be able to use a PS3 controller. Its bluetooth too, you would think there would be a way...

Do you need a different kernel or rom for the wiimote to work? I thought stock didn't have the right bluetooth stack or something

Yeah, you have to have a ROM. It can't have Sense on it. It works great with CM6, but I couldnt get it to work with Sky Raider Vanilla.

Did You have to go to a sense-less rom to do that?

Yeah, it won't work with Sense at all. This is a huge part of the reason I went back to CM6 from Sky Raider Vanilla. Sky Raider Vanilla is still based off of a sense ROM, I think? At least that's how I understood it. I looked like an idiot the other night at a bar trying to get the Wiimote to connect to my phone when I had just installed Sky Raider. Fail.

What is the coolest thing you have done with your rooted Dinc? I have just rooted and I have to say I really enjoy cyanogenmod cm6. But im new to this so Im interested to see your guys' opinion.

I just rooted my phone today and I have the same ROM installed as you. I think the coolest things I have done with my rooted incredible is to make it run faster via SetCPU and being able to enjoy FroYo.

I used the wifi tether so a friend could use the internet (we were in a hotel room). I then proceeded to look at the output from Shark for Root (a traffic sniffer) and narrate his actions from across the room. He was more than freaked out by the fact I knew exactly what he was doing/what sites he was visitant.

Lurking here. I actually have the Eris and was on the way to the football game Thursday night riding with a family of Apple lovers. The boy had a Ipod Touch and I told him, hey, if you want to get online let me know, I can do that for you. So I fired up my wireless tether and boom, they were all blown away. So he played online the entire trip with his Ipod Touch and went home ranting and raving about what my droid phone could do.

I do have a buddy of mine that has the Incredible and he used his to hack his ps3. It is now completely open to whatever he wants to do with it.

Honestly being rooted is cool but nothing that I have done has jumped out at me as OMG.

disabled the included flash player in favor of a version that would play Hulu.

How did you do this? I was hoping Flash would have taken care of this with the new version.

Ok, so I read a little further. Where do you find this other version? I have tried Hulu on my current version and is says that my player does not support this.

I'm not necessarily about one-upmanship but here goes...

A buddy of mine has a GF that has an iPhone, and she is always talking it up. He just rolls a little flip phone and doesn't like the iPhone because she is always slamming his.

They were at my shop the other day and he needed to access internet on his laptop... I whipped out the good 'ole wireless tether and he was rolling in seconds.

He turned and asked her if her iPhone could do that, and no it couldn't... and he said to her, "Wow, Droid DOES!"

I had to laugh... LOL :)

In all fairness the iPhone actually wifi tethers after jailbreak which is much easier to do then to root. So actually iPhone wins

Really? Didn't seem all that difficult to root my Incredible. Or my Droid. Download a program, click a button and done. Plus, I have different UI options, kernel options, themes, vanilla, sense, sense-less. You got different phone options, big screens, small screens, physical keyboards, soft keyboards, black ones, silver ones, white ones. The Iphone is like going to a dealer to buy a car and finding out they make only 1 model in 1 color. I don't know about you, but I like options.
