HI frnds.I am new to rooting in android. its been 6mths since I bought my galaxy in india with firmware II3 running 1.5.since den I hav been reading lot of stuff regarding rooting and custom roms.I always wanted to upgrade my phone with a custom rom but feared Dat I may brick it.I hav grt respect for drakaz who is making lot of effort to make d galaxy better dan wat it is.

I just tried to boot into recovery mode a couple of days bac and I was successful to get to d recovery menu with options but wen d next time I tried d same thing it did not take me to d menu but only showed me a triangle icon with ! in it.I waited for a long time no use. so I tried to press some buttons and d phone got formatted and I lost all my data and apps.

I want ask how much time does it take to get to d recovery menu. I pressed volume down+call+power.I am able to get into fastboot mode but not recovery mode.

at different forums der r different methods to root and flash custom roms which one to follow. some use odin some don't.and others use different files.

help needed. thanks to all.

I did get the latest recovery, but I was hoping to get away without a wipe. I would have thought that flashing Froyo as a zip file would not require it ( like going from Galaxo 1.6.3.3 to 1.6.3.4 )

slhoka: You are going to have to read the stickie called "easy guide to updating to Galaxo" That will provide a lot of information that you will need. I recommend doing that first before you play with the nightly builds.

@slhoka Yep, like weasel sad you will need to look there and read carefully (step by step). If you have any question don't hesitate to ask. Better that then brick your phone.

EDIT: @weasel so did you succeeded with installing Froyo???

Not yet. I might give it another go tonight. If it doesn't work without wiping, then I might wait a bit. I don't have much service where I am so getting my contacts and other settings back is a bit of a hassle.

You can export your contacts on sd card to save yourself the trouble, and import it later.

Any Bell (I7500L) users (or anyone else for that matter) getting the following error when trying to connect to Google?.... "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server"

I can't seem to get past that error, everything else works great though. I even rolled back to beta 2 and it had no problems connecting.

Same problem here. I can use the mobile browser but won't log into google account. Using bell.

Well I tried again yesterday and it just won't go. Wipe is a must I guess. One thing before I do. I have Titanium Backup. Can I wipe, flash 2.2 and then restore my backup ? I am not so worried about my settings, just the apps. Contacts I can deal with. I could re-enter them if I really fall in love with Froyo ( I have that few to enter, I am not to worried ).

Gave in a wiped. Now for a little play time !

Well so far I like it. Still need to set up my Google account. The only thing I really miss is Darksense.

I'm hopping you will not have problems with log in to Google account like some of your friends also have. Yep, they're all on I7500L Bell.

Me too ! Right now its a lack of a data connection. Hell I can't even use the browser. I do have a 3G connection, but its minimal. I have to hold the phone in one spot in my front window for it to work. Its hit and miss as to whether I get enough signal. I did get enough to try the dialer, so I know that works. I'll find out tomorrow !

Count me in this boat as well. Browser is just find. Google account is a no go. Unless a solution is found, I am going to have to go back to Galaxo. Can't wait for the next nightly !

P.S.2: I think that for camera "auto flash" now works.

I am just hoping that they fixed what was causing Bell users to be unable to log into Google. The rest is a bonus at this point.

switing off "Airplane Mode" was pain , everthing else works perfect but my mobile network is not working .

I did velnaykkar. Didn't make a difference for me. It's something about the GApps though. I've pulled my SIM card so that Bell's network wasn't even in the picture.

gapps worked for me i am not 7500L user btw , After congriguring gapps i got an email in my gmail inbox something like "thanks for using Nexus" ??
i think darkaz hv ported nexus gapps .
below are the following issues i faced
a) When removing widgets from screen got an error "sorry widget is not supperted"
b)my mobile network worked for few sec in at start with fluctuations for while then it died
c)Phone starts with airplane mode enabled
d)3485 @ 710 mhz --- benchmark as compared to 2874 @ 710 mhz on galaxo.
e)Video recording crashes the camera application but camera for static pics works good except the image which got saved is different from image you clicked for at that point of time.
f)screen switch off btn does not work instead "call disable" btn does its job.
