Milestone Froyo news

Soryy if this news is posted before, but I found this page yet, & I'm happy that Froyo is coming out soon for milestone...

Froyo is coming out by the end of 2010, I think it's not so late for this update

https://supportforums.motorola.com/community/manager/softwareupgrades

Okay so maybe I just don't understand the table on that link, but it doesn't say anything about the froyo update for the milestone in the US. Am I mistaken? I read on another forum that the milestone in the US will not get the froyo update. Any info? Thanks for the help.

as I know updates are all available for US, cause as I know milestone is the GSM version of droid (the american version)
if it's milestone (Not Droid) you should wait for the update I guess US update will be th same with the canadian update

I did update to one and I'm already having problems with it but maybe I wasn't thorough enough. I have been getting weird speaker noises, and the phone got stuck at the boot logo once but just cleared cache and all was fine. The battery life is a bit less then the other rom as well so maybe waiting for a official rom will be much better.

I'm in the UK though and it says 4th quarter 2010 for Europe ;) I have to say i have no confidence in them getting it done here. I'll ask for a refund if nothing comes out in January lol

I am in the UK (officially at least as I work as a contractor somewhere else) and I have been using 2.2 for well over a month. No complaints here.

Erm, yes but you're not running the official Motorola update. Was the question not - when are Motorola releasing 2.2? No-one's heard anything and it's supposed to be released kind of nowish.

Unless I'm mistaken and you have actually got your hands the the official update... in which case... how?

How does it matter if it is official or not if it is working great for me? I have Apps2sd without any hassle, I have Flash Player, and all the FroYo goodies, so wht is the point of waiting for the official update?

Well it matters because that was the question.

We all know there's versions out there that will void our warranties - which many of don't want to do. Also, some don't have the know how and don't necessarily trust the guides to update to unofficial ROMs.

As a moderator of the forum you should understand this. Why are you posting pointless information instead of answering that which is being asked? I don't get it.

There is no information anywhere so I am just saying that you can get it or not and you do not have to be tech savvy to do it, no one is born with any knowledge I had to learn about it too.

As for warranty we all care about it and if your phone breaks to the point where you cannot reflash it, the service will not know what ROM you had and will just fix it. If the phone breaks with a fault like a speaker or sth like that you can always flash it back to stock within 10 minutes and just send it for repair.

No one will give you any answer because Motorola have not given any info yet so your post is as pointless as mine.

To answer your question Lizzarian, the latest rumours based on German Twitter accounts is the 11th of January for the official one to be released. They're currently doing operator testing, and operators are crazy busy around christmas so to be honest I'd be surprised if we got it within the next 2 weeks.

Regarding unofficial ones, the guys are right in that they work great, but they are also still kind of buggy in places. I have no doubt that Moto's one will be too though!
But I agree 100% that the guides on XDA are extremely unintuitive for someone coming new to it - they automatically think people know what busybox, open recovery etc all are and know how to use them.

Just hold on a little longer, shouldn't be too long before the official one's out!
