There are a lot more Epic vs Evo reviews beginning to surface and of the three that I have read they all seem to give a very slight advantage to the EVO. Interesting, because after the initial Epic reviews I really thought it would be seen as the better overall unit by a significant margin. That does not seem to be the case. In fact, the two things I thought would make the Epic a much better phone, display and camera's, seem to be the very things that make it the loser in a head to head battle.

Something you must remember, all the initial reviews were done by companies that do tech reviews for a living. They try to be as unbiased as possible. The reviews starting to come out later, are done by individuals who, for the most part, are not making a living doing reviews.

As such you get alot of reviews that are done by individuals who don't care that they are doing reviewing with a bias. So if the reviewer loves his EVO (which he owns) he will let it be known that he like the EVO much better than the Epic (that he has on loan). When you recognize that a review has a strong amount of bias towards a particular device, evident in that the reviewer continously mentions how much better said device is at anything, then you should take his opinion with a grain of salt.

^^I know, but the more I see comparisons, the more I am confused. Good thing I cannot find an Evo anywhere in the Valley or I would have a tough time on the 31st.

I went to the store today to compare screens and the .3 difference is really bigger than you might think. The problem is that the Evo looks washed out and does not play friendly with as many file types as the Epic.

I won't dispute their claim that the Epic's camera can produce shaky video at times if not held mostly steady, but the comparison samples used in that review are completely ridiculous.

With the iphone, in the backwoods of Maine, they stand in one spot the entire time pointing the camera at a bird on the ground.

You are expected to compare that video to a guy riding a bike one handed through NYC traffic while shooting a video on the Epic with his 'free' hand, and then hitching a ride from a truck while shooting the other half of the video. How the hell does he even pull this off, is he seriously holding the camera in one hand and onto the truck with the other hand (no hand on the bike)? :eek:

Yep, there you have it, definitive proof that the Epic's video is shakier than the iPhone's. :rolleyes:

"The video the Epic shoots is not spectacular, it isn’t bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it is not as crisp as the 720p video you get from the DROID X or EVO 4G. We’ve got a sample video below; we’ll let that speak for itself."

I remember the Epic 4G video samples looking better than the Evo's...
Also, a-GPS instead of GPS?

Things like camera use/quality should be taken with a grain of salt. First, the person using the camera needs to know what they are doing. For example, lighting from behind/side rather than into the camera lens. Second, the pics/video themselves are all a matter of opinion. As someone into photography, I can not tell you the number of times that I have seen photo contests with significantly different opinions by judges. I cringe when I see these damn techno geeks taking pictures of flowers and fruit and then thinking they are professionals or have a good sense of the ability of a unit after spending 15 minutes snapping shots. Quite a good laugh!

The only thing you should be doing with a phone camera is taking pics of your passed out friend on the bathroom floor in a puddle of puke for posting on Facebook. Otherwise....get a real damn camera. If you are trying to take a pic of your sons first steps with a camera phone, then you are a moron and CPS should be called.
