Effect on battery?

There isn't going to be any noticable effect on battery life. This isn't a service running in the background. It's like changing a setting.

So... what is this doing in laments terms for those who are a decent bit lost here? *raise my hand*

Is this jacking up the actual screen resolution or something?

I guess the easiest way to understand it (though probably not entirely correct) is like you said changing the resolution. The issue is all of your apps might not scale properly. Make sure you have compatibility mode unchecked. Also this can be used with any rom, it's just best to use a launcher other than sense.

I just purchased and downloaded the app on my moto droid 1 rooted with froyo 2.2 and set the LCD density to 200. now my phone stops the boot process after the "m" in the boot process. I cant boot into recovery.. I can't do anything... I need help

This is the Evo forum, so not sure how many people know enough about the rooted droid to help.... but if it's anything like the Evo, there should be a way to turn on your phone and go straight to the bootloader. For the evo, it's achieved by holding down the power button and vol-down button when the phone is first turned on. There's probably some equivalent way to do that for the droid, no? Once in the bootloader, you should be able to select "recovery" from the menu. From there, you can nandroid restore, or flash a working ROM.

problem here as well with my rooted evo.
changed density form 240 to 200, now the phone wont boot the display; it gets to the startup screen sound, but the screen never comes up..
I can boot into recovery, but not sure what to do; should I wipe data/factory reset to get rid of this program?
I am on a mac, so not sure how to push ADB commands..

Thanks so much if you can help!
