Article on making 911 calls on the EVO

Right in the middle of the call, Thank God I had already given the address or the person could have died. This really pisses me off because this phone is now starting this same thing like my Evo number 1 was doing and about at the same two weeks in its in service time frame. If this keeps up I'm bailing out as much as I love the phone and all.

END RANT!

I've thought about things like this. And to a lesser degree it has happened to me, and some other people to a more alarming rate.

I was thinking of using a slate for internet and a lesserphone for calls/tethering. Unfortunately, I don't believe there are any simple phones out there with wirless tether. Sometimes people may want a decent phone without all the junk... but also use it as a wifi modem. That would suite me just fine.

I think anyone who uses a smartphone that allows software to be added has had their phone reboot unexpectedly.

But if you've had two phones in a row reboot this way, I think you should look at what software you have running on it. Spontaneous reboots are usually caused by some kind of software conflict.

damn that is bad.. i hope this gets corrected.. asap!!!

i have the hero.. had to call 911 yesterday.. it was fine.

I would be extremely upset .. angry.. if my cell failed me when 911 is needed!! there is NO excuses for this not to work!

if a loved one was in trouble and 911 could have changed the outcome of issues at hand...and this is something that Sprint and HTC knew about. wow!

HUGE law suits will be pending!!

I witnessed a bad accident a few weeks ago. I ran out to help, and gave my girlfriend my Evo to call 911. After it was over, and we go to leave, I noticed my Evo was off. I asked her why she turned it off, and she said as soon as she dialed 911 and hit send, it turned off, so she used her phone. I didnt think much of it, thinking she probably just couldnt handle the awesome power of the evo lol.

But this is a very big problem. I dont care if they say it only happens once in a while, if it happens to you when you need it, that would suck.

My house got struck by lightning Friday night and I called 911 from the EVO just fine...it even brought up a contact icon of the first aid kit symbol when it dialed which made me feel warm and cozy in a stressful moment

everything ended up being fine btw...no injuries except to some electronics in the house
