No, I haven't forgotten about this thread or our friendly debate
. You make valid points, which I have to admit, is far beyond what most people make in the anti-insurance field, any way. However, I still firmly stand by my past statements and do believe, that you are right in some aspects, however... not all of us can squirell that money away. It's a temptation for other indulgences that I my self am all to guilty of. That being said, insurance is insurance. I, and hundreds of thousands of others are paying for it. Albeit there are other alternatives, as you stated, but that being said it's not always the solution. It's an investment like anything else, that like it or not (minus the $200+ early cancelation you're stuck with... let's think, get a phone for 199.99 pay the activation, get your accessories and what have you, then cancle to get a new phone ((yea, I know that's not what you said)) costs the same/more in the long run) you are stuck with for year/two years. Regardless of anything else, you should get what you pay for. And it's not for a sub-par device... being in my position where I've already paid for quite a few months that money is gone for something that I thought was being protected, so to say that squirelling the money aside would solve this issue, it doesn't. It's paid for already. Just give me what I'v paid for, either a new Moto Droid or a device that is atleast comprabable... I.E HTC DINC or better. Do not give me a subpar device for a high end device I'm PAYING for each month. Someone gave a great example, say you're paying for a top of the line BMW/Mercedes. This model was released as a top of the line model when you purchased it, however since then a new model has been released that replaces your model and they kept the lower end model as it's still selling very well as it's more affordable off the bat. You get into a wreck, your used model is still worth 40,000k Kelly Blue Book and the model below yours is being priced at 33,000k KBB, so your insurance tells you that since your model is no longer in production they are going to have to give you the lower priced, yet still not bad cars, KBB value. This doesn't happen. You get the value for you car, and depending on how long you've had it, the same car. Not a lesser car, but perhaps a lesser value in this investment. But I'm not complaining they can't give me the lesser value (in this case, the SAME phone) I'm complaining cause it's not even an option without waiting a rediculous amount of time. I hope this rebuttle has struck some nerve, whether you agree or not, to atleast see my (our, a.k.a the community of individuals that have already paid) SIDE of the story. Just give me what I'v paid for or something equivlanat. I shouldn't have to sacrifice ANYTHING in this new phone. And that's what they are telling me. I get some stuff, I lose some stuff. I don't gain ANYTHING!!! Not a DAMN thing! Old version of Moto Blur, that's IT. If I'm getting Moto Blur it's going to be on D2 or X. Not on an older phone that ALSO is on it's last breathe. They give me, oh let's say, an Eris that is just about as gone as the D1. That breaks, so they give me an Ally because they're is not phone equivalent and it's the next logical step (hypothetically, of course). If I go down, and that device goes out of existance, I'm not even going to get a phone that's above my D1. So I go from a D1, to a P.O.S (Eris, just an example) and that goes so I get a new phone that STILL isn't even as good as my D1. It's a cycle that the average consumer will fall to. And I, for one, refuse to be part of it.
