I dropped it yesterday for the first time. I was playing with the dog in the back yard. It fell on hard dirt. Didn't seem to get hurt, though, thank God.So far no.
I'm a compulsive phone dropper though so.. we'll see how long I can make it. I also don't use any protective coverings as I tried it with the Voyager and eventually got tired of it and just decided to go in the nude. So if I drop this - it's gunna hurt!
Let's hear it. Who's dropped it? On concrete perhaps? Ouchies?
Wow!! I hope you get a new phone soon at no charge or very little charge.I dropped my droid the other day in my driveway. It didn't land on any edges, but landed face down. I knew that could only be bad bad, even though it was only about a 2 foot drop. I picked it up and flipped it over, where I saw this:
Believe it or not, but the phone still works, even though it looks horrible.
I spent an hour on the phone yesterday with Asurion and with Verizon. Asurion was telling me that they didn't have any droids in stock and didn't know when they would get one in. I called Verizon who thought that was insane and they contacted Asurion to see what was up. The fact of the matter is that the phone is so new that Asurion doesn't have any refurbs to send out (which is the only thing you can get from them).
Something must have worked though, because this morning I got an email saying I would have my replacement tomorrow.
And I also tried the less than 30 day option with verizon and was told that with damage to the phone I didn't qualify to return it to them directly.
The thing to take away from this is to make sure that you buy the insurance or you will be buying a new $500 phone at the store.
I'm glad I read this. I'll ask about that other insurance too. Never heard of it.I DO have the Asurion insurance, and I'm seriously considering getting the other kind of insurance (the brand-new replacement one instead of the refurbished one Asurion gives you).
God, no. You're good.God, I hope I haven't jinxed myself here....
I'm only guessing you mean this one:Seidio is coming out with a full protection case for the moto droid soon. I'll be picking one up along with the extended battery when they're out.

I just called Verizon to discuss their insurance options. There's no "brand new replacement" insurance option. The higher of the 2 insurance options that Verizon offers adds 1 year of manufacturer warranty to the Droid, but that does not include user-related damage (i.e. dropping the phone).
How about stolen or lost DROID'S
This makes me want to cry! I guess I should be looking into insurance; I'm not good to devices.I dropped my droid the other day in my driveway. It didn't land on any edges, but landed face down. I knew that could only be bad bad, even though it was only about a 2 foot drop. I picked it up and flipped it over, where I saw this:
On Thanksgiving I was riding a bike and it flew out of my pocket onto the street, lots of little marks on the battery door and a huge dent in the side that made it difficult to slide open/close.
Quick call to verizon and I have a new one sitting in front of me
