Root Cyanogen Mod 6 (Froyo) Released!!

angry birds has worked perfect for me on both ruby and cm6 but it won't work on any sense roms.

Then I shall go Vanilla for Angry Birds!!!!

Naa I dont see a Point in Running CM6 when there are sooo many other Perfected Vanilla Roms. I mean I used it when it was all we had. But now theres just sooo many more that are so much more stable.

None of those so called "vanilla" roms are comparable because they aren't truly vanilla. They are hacked up stock roms to remove sense and while some of them are nice and stable, there are too many things left behind that remind a person "hey, sense was ALMOST removed completely..."

If you don't want sense, why try to remove it when all you have to do is load launcher pro, make it the default, then reboot. Sense doesn't load anymore and there's nothing to rip out.

Please insert foot into mouth...CM6, Ruby, and IncDoes are all true vanilla. They are built from AOSP, and have no sense at all. They are not sense roms with the sense turned off or other launchers loaded. Sure, there are hybrid vanilla-sense roms, but there are also true vanilla roms.

I assumed he was talking about Skyraider and the like. He used the word "perfected" with the phrase "soooo many other" and NONE of these Aosp roms are close to perfection. (ruby is the only other one really, IncredibleDoes is a bit scary)

What he said. CM can support features that aren't in the HTC Incredible (like extended bluetooth support). None of the de-Sensed roms can do that because they're still running HTC code under the covers.

I'm glad to hear that the camera is finally working properly. One question. Do I need to upgrade from my v1.0 radio in order to install the 6.0.2 release? I've been running test8.

Unfortunatly I had to pull the plug on this ROM as of right now. I really do love this ROM... I just think it needs a bit more tweaking. The reasons I had to jump ship...

1. After mounting the SDcard I would always get a System.android FC. Didn't seem to have any ill effect but none the less an error.

2. I really do not care for the Camera App. There are no options as to where to store pics, nor does the Camcorder allow you to choose what format to choose from. (There could be a setting but I couldn't find it)

3. I like the original HTC email app. I tried several other email apps and I could never settle on one that I liked.

4. Constant Reboots. Yes a few people explained that it has to do with wifi. I typically have wifi on 90% of the time. When I am at work I cannot get a 3g signal. When I am home inside the house I have a hard time with 3g. When I am outside 3g works good.. but wifi does not.

Over the long weekend I played around a bit with flashing ROMs for the first time. Of all the ones I've tried so far, the 6.0.2 version of this seems to be the best for me.
The first time I loaded it it was pretty much a disaster with a ton of force closes from the mail app and from google framework and random other things here and there. I did a bit of reading and narrowed my problems down to restoring my apps and data with Titanium backup. The last time I flashed it I restored my stuff with MyBackupPro and that made a huge improvement. Only fc I get now is from the mail app at startup, and I know now that this can be fixed by deleting it through root explorer. I use gmail so this is not a big deal to me.

As a noob though I still have a few questions.
I'm using this ROM on the stock 2.1 radio (Settings > about phone > baseband ver. 1.00.03.04.06) Is this dangerous in any way? I see a lot of people say they're running updated radios with this ROM buy haven't seen anyone state that you need to? If I went back to stock ROM, turned S-off, and updated the radio before re-flashing this, are there any other benifits besides being able to use the video camera, possibly changing my reception, and more reliable gps?

One thing that is killing me about this ROM is the fact that I no longer have copy & paste, in the browser or anywhere else. Is there a way to it back?

In the gallery, is there a way to only display images from the SD card? I like keeping my picture folders organized and with all the photos from the internal storage now being displayed it's makes things kind of messy.

Is there any way to view your awake time now? It's no longer in settings > about phone

You can choose "Custom" and then choose whatever format you want.

The latest nightly builds have fixed many issues that people were having with 6.0.2 or RC3.

IMO, CM6 nightlies are the most stable at the moment and definitely the most usable of the ASOP ROMs aka TRUE VANILLA.

Understandable and I respect your opinion but can I ask you a few questions? With the stock dialer how do you speed dial? Is it possible? I use Sense speed dial repeatedly throughout the day. Also I love being able to dial 546 to pull up JIM and have fast access to your contact card or calling you if I choose. What is the fastest way to do that on the Stock Dialer?

Honest questions. I am just trying to understand why you prefer the stock dialer.

i agree. The most convenient you can be with the stock dialer is to open the dialer, hit contacts, and hit the spyglass/search button. I hate sense overall but the sense dialer is pretty ballin.

about to install dialer one and see what that's all about.

so i got this notification in my notification bar from Rom Manager that there is an updat for my CM6. (6.0.2) so I thought, if it's just an update, I'll just flash it over my current ROM (don't wipe data cache) so it does it's thing reboots and I check the version in settings, and it still says 6.0.1. So ok, I figure I need to do a fresh install so I install 6.0.2 again and wipe data and cache this time and when it finishes it's thing, I notice I still have the same wallpaper I had with 6.0.1 (it's not the stock one) And I think that's weird, I wiped data/cache I should have whatever the stock cyanogenmod wallpaper is. So I check my settings and my version still says 6.0.1. Even tho all my settings were reset (except previously mentioned wallpaper) and I had to re-enter my gmail account etc etc.

so...what?

I would try clearing your download cache in ROM Manager and try to get the Update again. Sounds like something is corrupt with the download of 6.0.2.

I havent run a quad in a while... but I'll try now that you say this..

I got 1807 on CM6 on the second run 1754 on the first... I started a aosp kernel thread so we dont clog up the cm6 with kernel specific issues

Hi folks,

I'm new to root as of last weekend and decided to give CM6 a shot as my first ROM. Today was the first day that I ran it all day and I have a couple questions/comments for the collective here.

1. My battery life stunk today. Basically, I ran the screen brightness on auto, and by 11:30 I noticed that my battery was below 50%. I checked to see what was using up my battery, and it said Display was at the top with something like 65%. I turned off auto brightness, but I think the damage was already done for today. Anyone else experience this?

2. Last night I was using ROM Manager and I tried downloading the Google Apps add-on that is posted under the CyanogenMod listing. It asked me if I wanted to do a backup and a cache cleanup. I decided to go ahead and do it. Once the install was done, I came up on a completely fresh Vanilla. I tried to do a restore from the backup I had made prior to installing the Google Apps, but it didn't work and ended up going to a blank Cyanogen. I had to redo the whole setup that I had already spent a solid hour doing in order to get my phone back up and running how I like it. Are people actually using the "Google Apps" stuff?

3. Is there any way to do a 1 click Titanium restore? I tried to do a batch processing, but it ended up giving me each of my apps, 1 by 1, and I had to either click install or cancel. Not sure that was the most time efficient way of going.

4. Ok, last point. I tried sending a couple emails from my newly CM6'd phone today, and the emails are still in my Inbox and they say "sending" in red. I don't think they ever went through. Any known issues with that?

OK, thanks to anyone who read this far. Any help is much appreciated.

Lev

1. i've had very good battery life out of this. although, i am using a custom kernel
2. thats unfortunate. did you try booting right into recovery and restoring the backup manually? i think most people are using google apps (it has gmail.. the market.. all the google apps that aren't system related)

3. yes, you have to buy the full version.. its worth it.. i did the 1-by-1 clicking method and wanted to jump out my window so i just bought it.

4. try turning data on/off ? i occasionally get a problem where gmail will get/send messages.. but if i mark a message as read on my phone or delete it on my phone.. it won't push it to the server (even after a forced sync)
