Just wanted to stop in real quick and give adrynalyne a Thx for the custom kernel for virtuous (and of course to show off my battery life with my set up 
). It seems he is quite the dev and after rmk's virtuous and this new custom kernel I'm somewhat content with my phone....is that even possible!? Well except for changing the cosmetic look of screens that is. This ROM flies it is extraordinary and the only flaw (and it's not an issue for me I'd rather use the app) is youtube through the browser.
With a $14 bidallies ebay OEM HTC 1500mAH battery and virtuous 2.6 with adryn's kernel I'm quite satisfied with my superphone that goes 2 days without a charge. I use setcpu with "ondemand" scaling and a "screen off" profile at 245/384. My dBm signal is average, most of the time 1 bar, and I use wifi when at home. This usage is more than my average, happened to be that kind of day!
95 min on the phone, 30 min internet, 65 texts, polling weather, calender and hotmail every hour, display ON for 80 min, and 12 emails later I have over 50% battery left. This is with a bump charge.
This might not come as a surprise to some, they might get better batt life than this and this whole "battery life thing" is SO user dependent, but I'm giddy over my battery life
and I firmly believe that it is the result of this ROM with this kernel and setcpu.
