Root VCast Media Manager for Windows 7

There are plenty of ways to get such files onto your PC, and none of them require root.
  • Connect the phone in mass storage mode and simply copy the files (best way)
  • Open an individual file and check out the "Share" menu (better for one-offs)
  • Take your MicroSD out of the phone and copy the files off of it
  • Connect via Media mode on USB (I haven't, so I'm not sure about the limitations of this method)
  • Transfer the files to a SAMBA share, FTP server, Picassa or Dropbox.
Hypothetically, you could also plug an external harddrive or flash drive into the DroidX's micro USB OTG port, but I'm not sure if the software can handle that very well, and the voltage might not be adequate without a powered hub.

Alternatively, I think you can use Virtual XP Mode for Win7 (available at no additional charge) to install the 32 bit software and drivers.
