Incredible Tips and Tricks

to go in silent instead of vibrate, volume rocker all the way down to vibrate and volume rocker up one notch to silent.

That is the fastest way for me without taking up home screen real-estate

Have you guys seen "SHUSH" an app.
I didn't make it but I love it.
Put your phone on vibrate and it pops up and asks how long.
It will automatically go back to loud.
So if you are going to a meeting or a movie, just push volume down or click your vibrate widget and shush pops up and you can say shush for 3 hours.
After 3 hours you don't have to remember to turn the volume back up.
There is also "local" which changes settings based on where you are.
It is not free. I use Shush and Timerriffic together.
Timerriffic will change the volume settings based on when it is.
So at night at 10PM mine goes to vibrate, at 12 it goes to mute.
At 8AM it goes back to vibrate at 9AM it goes back to loud.

Several settings so if you have church, etc. you can set weekly settings as well.

Just got my Incredible last week. I've done some searches, but couldn't find the answer anywhere.

Is it possible to save numbers from the Messages app into my contacts? I received a text from a friend who had just changed her cell number. Naturally, I wanted to update her contact info but after pressing menu on various screens, I couldn't figure out how to do this without writing down the number she'd just sent the text from, and then manually changing the number in contacts.

Maybe long hold on the actual txt message or the summary of the thread? That usually opens up a pop up with options. It may be there.

Facebook app (both HTC and the official Facebook app) were trashing my battery.

I've had the typical 'up time = awake time' problem, and I started deleting stuff to figure out what's wrong.

Turns out after using either facebook app, my phone wouldn't go back to sleep. I can't figure out a way around this, so when I need to check F-book, I'll be using the web browser from now on.

Hope that helps some folks.

From the phone dialer all you need to do is begin typing the name of the contact or the number on the dial pad and it should bring up your contact that matches.

As far as getting rid of your Google contacts, that's tricky...it's a Google phone and you need a Google account to make it work. You would need to delete the contacts. When you click not to sync contacts all that does is stop updating between the phone and your Google account.

From the contacts app you should be able to hit menu and control the visibility of contacts from various sources.

Sure enough...go to people then hit menu and view it gives you a list of the type of contacts you want to display. Google, facebook, email client, exchange, phone and even a way to only show those with a phone number.

this may not help you but i think know what ur talking about. I had same complaint. Are you saying if you want a contact that starts with "S" you have to scroll all the way down to the "s"?? if so i found this little trick.

Start scrolling fast and a bar will appear on the right hand side. Grab that bar and you can scroll it to any letter quickly. it even tells you what letters your going by. I use it all the time now. No typing. quick flick of the thumb. then a grab and slide. then your where you want to be.....

Speed-Dial #1 is reserved for VM & for Verizon, it's *86.

You can modify this via --> Settings/Call/VM Settings/VM Number.

If you add a "p" after "*86", it'll pause for 3 seconds. Add your VM password followed by "#" allows you to long-press 1 from the dialer & it'll dial your VM, pause for 3 seconds, dial your VM password & start playing your VM without you having to input the pswd & "#".

Eg: *86p1234#

Voila!

(Of course, you can make it dial any number you want, not just VM.)

I use HTC Sense(10 weeks), I haven't had any issues personally, I have the Refresh interval rate set at 1 hour. Stock battery 14-20 hours between charges.

please help i singed into facebook and it put all my facebook contacts i uncheacked it by view and stuff so i cant see them in my contact box but when i hit call on the home screen all of the facebook contacts are there how do i get them off

A handy trick that I have done makes seeing ONLY the contacts from your old phone easy:

Long-click where you want this phone book to be...
choose FOLDER
pick the "Phones" folder

Now, you can click on that "Phones" folder and only see a list of your phone contacts exactly how they were in your old phone!
