How to dramatically improve your camera (picture and video) quality

I would be very happy to pay more than a fiver if it improves the camera quality.

That said, I think it really is up to HTC to fix this issue as it is obviously a flaw in the phones design. As other posters have said, the phone is supposed to be high end product (and we paid for that) so they should have gotten it right from the start.

A template letter/email would be good so they get exactly the same complaint from enough people but how many is enough to make them actually do something about it!?

I totally agree with that, we should demand HTC finds a solution.

Hi all,
Hope this is of use. I think I might have found something for replacing the plastic lens cover.
Below are links to a couple of places that sell Mineral glass for watches.
My Desire is only a couple of weeks old so no problems with the plastic cover for me yet but I'll be trying this out later.

Damn you HTC . We paid a lot for such crap .I want a replaced backcover with glass lens .

Can we raise this with HTC ? .They have to recall the back covers or send out revised ones .

I am inline for glass replacement guys . I am disappointed .:(

I own the Touch Pro 2 and that is what I did to improve the camera, take out the plastic cover. Also the TP1 did the same. So this has been a constant problem for a long time, and it will probably never go away. But on another note, I would also be interested in a glass replacement.

Of course, it would be a lot less hassle! But that's at the expense of picture quality, which is the real point here. :)
What I forgot was that sooner or later (probably sooner) the problem will come back. That, presumably, is the point of the replacement glass?

To be honest, I'm probably going to get the HD (which I hope doesn't have the same problem), so I'm not going to bother to do anything.

Uh, you might want to be careful with that.

Looking further up the thread, it seems likely that whatever HTC comes up with next will indeed have this same flaw:

But you're free to do as you please, of course! :p

I've popped out my plastic lens cover with a cotton bud tonight and as I don't have a screen protector available right now I'm just gonna take a chance on leaving the lens uncovered. I'm not really concerned about scratches on the lens as it is well recessed within its cavity and I reckon a quick blast from the thin nozzle of an air duster can once in a while should blow out any dust which might accumulate.

I'd definitely be interested in the replacement glass lens cover too but, like many of us here, I'm irritated that we have to go to the expense and the trouble.

Hi,
I had this posted in a other thread :)
Here is a summary:

For HTC Desire:
This sapphire glass has exactly the same dimensions as the origin plastic cover:

Diameter 9.5mm
Thickness 0.5mm

TECHSPEC Sapphire Windows - Edmund Optics

Recommended glue: UHU Plus

Cost in EURO (purchased in UK from Germany):
sapphire glass: 16.63
postage: 20.00
tax (17.5%): 6.41
total:43.04

Ok, as you see, are the postage/shipping/tax cost the largest share.

If you live in US or UK, these costs will be lower (The glass is in US and UK on stock) :)

And the glass is no mineral glass or hardened mineral glass, it is sapphire glass.

And my Desire will deserve this :)

Harry
20€ for shipping is obscene, sorry.

Shipping it from the UK to Germany shouldn't cost that much considering the unit can't weigh more than a few grams total!!

I popped out the plastic cover and - like everyone else here - I can immediately see the improvement, even on the screen you can see how much sharper and clearer the image is. I've not yet transferred any photo's over to my pc to see them full size.

I'll keep an eye on this thread to see how others get on with the glass replacement, I must confess to feeling a little nervous about my phone having a hole in it!

The toothpaste I used was colegate, the 24 hour fresh one
