Bubble Bazinga - does it work on a G1?

I gotta say man, I think you knocked out the canon misfiring bug, I haven't seen that at all. This game is actually very playable except for the whole gold glowing ring where you last touched part. That can be kind of distracting, but I know that's just for this dev version.

I am putting this out there and I hope i am just dreaming ... but I am trying to concentrate on every bubble ... but i have had cases were I believe that the bubble has changed color upon Firing .. which means the bubble-color i intended to go to the targeted spot is now a color that blocks the bubbles I was trying to eliminate ...

I am still keeping a very close eye on this and will report back if i determined that I am not dreaming ... or having bubble-fixation !!

You know what, I'm certain that I've seen the same exact thing. There have been a few times where I look at the ball color and it's green. So I look up, find a place to put it, fire it and all of sudden it's light blue.

I thought I was just losing my mind.

I rather like the aiming ring ... it is especially helpful in mis-calculated bank shots when the next bubble is the same color. I think the ring will be great as well if you can use it as aiming/firing device with the track ball.

I am thinking that you may have to assign each ball as a linkable item ... similar to weblinks ... imagine one-letter weblinks and then use the facility that is used for selecting the very small weblinks on a webpage ... I have no idea if that can even be translated to the bubble images ... but in html of course any image even a single pixel can be assigned as a link ... just thinking out-loud here ...
I agree that it would be cool if you could use the trackball and the ring would show up where the ball will land. I guess as I play more the ring bothers me less and less, but at first it was extremely distracting.

Well hopefully we are NOT both flipping out an i noticed the same thing again this morning.... so I am calling it the Hidden Magic color change ...

I agree that it would be cool if you could use the trackball and the ring would show up where the ball will land. I guess as I play more the ring bothers me less and less, but at first it was extremely distracting.

again, i haven't found out how to simulate the trackball movement in the emulator. does the game react in any way when you use the trackball? i know i have added some rudimentary trackball handling code. i wonder if it gets executed at all.

that's not the first time i hear that people suspect there's a color change bug. so i spent quite some time with testing and checking if there is a bug. i couldn't find one. sometimes, when you don't pay enough attention to the next ball that is shown below the cannon you get the impression that the ball that you shoot next has a different color. but when i concentrate on that ball i don't have that feeling anymore. another problem is that it depends on the screen how good you can distinguish the colors. on some screens green and cyan look pretty similar. maybe you tilted the device and the color appeared a little different?

I suggesting a way that you might be able to use the track-ball as an aiming and firing mechanism ... I was trying to use the example of a detailed web page with many links on it where even one character/or pic could be a link .... example ABC each letter here is a different link ... as you scroll through the display on screen, they each would be accessable and could tell you which coordinates to send the fired bubble to ...

This still may not make sense ... put I thought that since the sdk has the facility to use the trackball to move from link to link that it might be a way to move the aiming ring to the desire firing position, and at the same time give you the coordinates for that firing point ... ???? Maybe this is still greek .... :thinking:

After firing and the aiming ring appears .. moving the trackball .. seems to cause a slight movement in the cannon and the aiming ring disappears ...

Also, is there any way to have it save your name so that you don't have to re-enter it every time you start the game? That gets tiresome after a while.

My name stays there as long as I continue to play game after game ... if i go home ... it may still be there when i return ... If i want to allow someone else to play I have had to generally power off the G1 and reboot ...

I have notice that the game locks up if in the middle of a game I go to another app, SMS, phone, etc ... and come back ... then it is frozen and the return key does not exit the game ... reboot required to use the game again ...

Yeah, that happened to me today as well. And yeah as long as I play game after game the name stays there obviously. But any time it gets shut down, I have to re-enter it. Would just be a nice feature to save it that way you can come into the game and everything is set and you can just tap play.

if you want someone else to play, just enter a new name in the name box. it's not locked or something. you can always tap on it and erase the name that's already there.

i just added the bug to my growing TODO list. you guys have to be patient. i think i will need some time to implement all the fixes and features.

Yeah, I'm not saying that at all. I know I can change the name whenever, but I never do.

I'm also experiencing the freeze after the game has been put in the background. Whenever I try to open it up again, it's back where I left it, but it won't respond to any controls at all. I usually have to hit the back and menu button repeatedly until android realizes that the game is frozen and gives me the option to force quit it.

it took a while but i have now some code in place which stores the game state when the user leaves and resumes the state when the user comes back. would you mind doing another test?

I have had to unload my fav game BBazinga, for the time being ... due to ram space ... I am waiting for google fix to storing and loading apps from the SDCard ... GO !!! GasBot ... the best I got was #84 and then slowly slide from there becauce of better scores .... Hope to rejoin the competition soon !!

wow, thanks! i updated both versions, so it doesn't matter. if you exit during the game and then restart it should pick up the old state. if it's possible please also test the scenario where the game is interrupted by a phone call or something and the game is put in the background but not terminated. when it's coming back to the foreground it should just continue running.

When I switch to another app or just go to the desktop .. call another app and then return to BB it works fine and game play continues...

However, when I recieve and take a call after call is completed ... the game is frozen ...

Update ... I finally did a forceClose ...call program again and the game was in the last locked state and play resumes ... after game is finished i am unable to orderly back out of the game ... you have to wait to a forceclose to backout and then try to get a fresh start for a new game

Update ... I finally did a forceClose ...call program again and the game was in the last locked state and play resumes ... after game is finished i am unable to orderly back out of the game ... you have to wait to a forceclose to backout and then try to get a fresh start for a new game

i just updated the special and the public version (current game version is 0.99). i added a hack which finishes the game in the onPause() callback. this way it should always exit regardless if a call comes in or if you exit the game manually. when restarting the game it should resume the old state. would you mind doing another test for me?
