Does anyone LOVE their Galaxy S?

I returned my second Captivate today. My 30 days is coming due next week, and I don't want to run the risk to messing it up on the weekend and being stuck unable to return it.

It was an interesting flirtation, and I learned a lot. I like the Captivate more than the plastic backed units of TMobile, Sprint and Verizon's versions. But, I didn't like the way it performed on AT&T, and I didn't like AT&T's plan pricing, even though I get 22% off through work.

My Galaxy S model was also hardware locked to prevent recovery mode booting. I may have been able to use download mode to flash a new ROM. But, that built-in functionality irritated me, along with AT&T's bloatware.

I LOVED the screen. My friends with iPhone 3s and 4s envied the SAMOLED screen. It was stunning for EBook reading, something my SO and I do every night.

But, i won't miss the other little problems.

I went back to my old Nokia 5800, which is better for playing music, has a built-in radio, more pocketable, is unlocked and brand-neutral, and keeps me from being locked into a contract. I hope to see cool things from the HTC Glacier/Project Emerald, and other models in the next six months. Dropping my Captivate frees me to take advantage of what may be around the corner, and hopefully will fulfill the potential that I thought Galaxy S has on paper.

No, at least I don't.
But that's how these things go and how they'll go in the future. In just few months even this device will be obsolete, I'm afraid.
Basically it's one's own choice to follow the wave of technology or not.

Good point. One can chase technology or wait for the latest, greatest to catch up with your price point, which will almost never happen. You can't fight Moore's law, even when it comes to mobile phones. :)

Yes,.....I DO love my Samsung Galaxy S (International version) !
As many have noted...the 4" Super Amoled display is second to none and is shared only with the Galaxy S versions for America.
I've had mine about three weeks now and have installed some apps from the App Market.
I have these installed:
Launcher Pro
Astro
Dolphin (blue)
XE currency
Engadget
To-do List

I did a lot of research before finally deciding on the SGS and I'm very satisfied with my decision. As for obsolescence....that is a given. Newer devices come out often. I say...do your research and then go ahead and get the device of your choice when the time is right for you. If it has all the things you want in a device then it should satisfy your needs for quite a while. Having to have 'the latest' is somewhat of an ego thing IMO. If it's the right device for you...then get it!
Yes,....I love my SGS !

Yep, my first experience with Android so can't say really how much is the phone vs Android, but they seem to work well together and fast especially over wifi. Would like an led message light and wish the battery lasted longer, but i have two backups so I just pop a new one in every 12 hours. Really, really love this phone. The screen is just amazing. I wish I could swipe a little shorter to answer the phone or unlock the screen, but I set the option to hit any key to answer so now I just tap the menu bar at the bottom to answer calls. Minor complaints, awesome phone.

I love my Galaxy S. You wanted an LED message light?

I Love my Galaxy S when I went to get an Iphone but OPTIS had none in stock and 2 month back order. The weak link is KIES it's crap compared to ITUNES managing APPS and music. Really wish I had an Iphone for this reason. Wish google would step in and make some thing like ITUNES to manage music apps and all in one place like ITUNES.

I'm giving this phone serious amounts of dribbling love...

I have the lag issues though, and I can't get it to boot up into recovery mode, I've downloaded the one click fix and rooted it, but when I restart pressing the main button+sound up+on button...I just get the Galaxy S flash screen. The lag is becoing a real pain in the ass...anyone any suggestions?

Thanks
Theres some galaxys which cannot boot into recovery mode manually (including mine!), whether this is a hardware or software issue isn't clear, but it appears to be intentional on samsungs part.

What you can do is download the ADK tools from XDA-developers.com and use those to get into recovery mode. Look on youtube and there's a video on how to do it. Its simple enough and allows you install the lag fix.

And on the original topic,i love my galaxy! I had a desire but really didn't like it, and I much prefer the galaxy.
