stupid question i'm sure... but is there an advantage of using the update zip vs the nandroid (or vise versa)?

i grabbed both and can do both... but wasn't sure what the difference would be other than the steps taken to install.

thanks!

No real difference at all....just different installation methods.

@D13
Don't worry, nobody is flaming, were just saying paying for leaks is counter productive to the very spirit of the Android Community.
Coming from years of WinMo ROMs all based off leaks, if people charged for these leaks we wouldn't have great sites like XDA and so on ....we would have pay to hack jailbreak like sites....we would be dare I say, Iphone Users! AUGHHHHHHHHHH! LOL

Its just because thats the text in the build.prop. Who knows, P3 could be BS'ing all of us just be changing stuff in the build.prop. I could easily make it look like you are running "Android 5000 Super Shit Edition" with a simple text edit.

So thats all it is, your software hasn't changed with the market fix, just a simple line of text.

Forget Froyo, I totally want this now. LOL

Not sure if the release is legit or not. However, I actively follow these guys on Twitter and I am a believer that they are going to have some great stuff available for the DX shortly. $2 is not a big deal for me to support these guys and I bought their app and downloaded and installed 2.3.15.

So now the question is: What's different. I went back and compared file dates and sizes for the 20 or so files I had .bak'd from 2.3.13. The file dates and sizes for these files (with the exception of Workcontacts.apk) were the same. However, when I restored my backup of .13, the same, larger workcontacts.apk was there. So I can't vouch for any specific file changes. .15 is already rooted and the su icon/app appear different than what I had before when I rooted myself. I also dropped my build.prop file from .13 in and my version was reported as .13.

So it is possible that the only difference is the installs could be a build.prop file. That would be very disappointing. I wound up going back to .13 only because adblock wasn't working and I thought it was a .15 issue. However, I'm experiencing the same issue with my restored .13 so the issue is unrelated. However, I need a compelling reason to go back to .15.

The SU Icon change just means that you were running an older version of SU.

Some more 2.3.15 update zip links. Charging for Motorola's release is criminal.

REMOVED

I can see how some of feel and why but I see it as them charging for an app the lets us download stuff that normally gets a C&D soon after. I was thinking this might help us get these downloads and be able to get them also at a later date. But that remains to be seen. Much like the Bomb thing.

I also don't mind supporting them but if I wasn't prompted to with this app I probably never would have :D I am guessing many others are the same way.

Did they ever supply an alternative link to people that had donated more than $5.00 Like the tweet said?

But telling people to take a link to a leak down is BS

I think the rub is in being forced to pay for the leak. If they had the app for free and a donate version, I doubt anyone would have a problem. I would pay for it (donate) just like I did for koush's boot app but forcing us to pay for illegal material is not kewl.

I don't need a hug at all, but this type of behavior is uncalled for.

I can understand if they put the app on the Market as a method to get donations for distributing their leak and their work, but it shouldn't be a requirement to pay them for leaks and ROM tweaks. That goes too far. Especially when all of their code is based off of someone else's copyrighted works.

It's no different than a guy getting a leaked copy of a game, say Halo Reach, or maybe a Halo Reach DLC add-on, then making an Android Market app and putting it up for sale before it's released. What they're doing is illegal in every way, so no one can come around and say "Oh, you should take that leaked ROM down because they put a bunch of work into getting it for you and you should totally buy the app and download the pirated file directly."

Either post it up for everyone, donations optional, or don't post it up at all.

In fact, here's another link to the update.zip someone posted earlier:

Don't let them pull that stuff. You guys start doing that, then everybody will start doing that, and the Android community will be a lot worse off.

The ONLY person/company who has the right to demand it to not be posted is Motorola, possibly Google since it includes some of their apps... that's it.

I hear what your saying and agree that if 1 person does it everyone will start and then android will be no better than the apple market the android market is much friendlier and helpful than the apple market however if 99% of the android market never donate and just take other peoples work and tweets for free then the guys doing the work are spending alot of time for everyone else to benefit. the android market needs to show these guys some love they spend alot of time on this stuff everyday and share their work with the public i applaud them. as for the leaks well it is illegal for them to post them blah blah blah but it is illegal to steal diamonds but noone expects the people who stole them to givem away for free. their taking all the risk and should get something for the risk i agree it should be voluntary donation but if very few are volunteering then people like p3 make the choice to force them to pay for the material or people like p3 stop sharing info at all just like the instance with nenolod and the android hack market suffers all the way around. not starting an argument just stating my thoughts on the matter.

Now THIS post is BS. You can't call posting their ROM an activity equal to posting "warez". They don't own the code in the first place, they're charging so you can download code that's copyright and owned by Motorola.

Them posting it to begin with is illegal and now they wanna go on a "war path" to have other people take it down when it's posted? Forget that.

Everyone should post their releases when they come out, they shouldn't be allowed to charge for things like this.

If you're not allowed to post their releases, then don't post ANYBODY'S releases, Motorola's official, other custom ROMs, etc. 'cuz it's all the same.

I was just looking out for my friend, asshat. Read the TOS of this site. Since P3's leaks include the swype keyboard, it is IN FACT warez and is not allowed to be posted. They already got C&D orders from Motorola themselves.

Get your facts straight before you go calling people out you un-informed goof.

You are correct, this is NOT WAREZ, and no links should be taken down.
The leak is just that, a leak of a Verizon test ROM, or perhaps Moto, but leaked software nonetheless.
It is not anyones original work other that Google, Verizon, Moto.
If it was a ROM Developers personally modded tweaked themed built ROM, then it would be inappropriate.
I feel that leaks should always be given to the community for free if someone gets ahold of one, its better for the community. Anyways...I have installed and works fine...no significant changes from. 13 I have seen.

Also guys we can appreciate Team Black Hat and their work on tranquility and that should never be mirrored and they can charge for that as they please, but let's not encourage the trend of charging for leaks.
Here is another mirror:

You're wrong man. It includes the keyboard which is their proprietary software. Its warez man, no matter how you want to twist it. Why do you think they got a C&D from Motorola?

I could really care less, Tranquility sucks and it will never be on my phone. I was just looking out for my boy D13.

You guys act like I give 2 shits about posting the link to the rom. I dont. I dont care at all. I just didnt want to see D13 get in trouble for it, simple as that.
