Root New PRI Version 1.77 now available

Seems to be an awful lot of debate over there as to whether it's real or just a hex edit, and if it's real whether or not it's actually beneficial in any measurable way. Anyone here running this update yet that can share a quantifiable increase in reception and/or data speeds?

Usually I wait a little longer before doing updates but I went for this one. I did several speed tests before with the SpeedTest.net app and then again after. There is a sizable difference, I'm getting nearly twice the speed up and down and haven't moved and inch since running all of the test.

I have no idea if the upgrade is the reason for that but the numbers certainly are different.

THey are talking at xda that other pri versions were hex edit but because no other rcdata.img was released until this one, this pri update may be legit

Can I just download directly to the phone or do I need to save it to my pc and then get it over tony SD card? I saw the tutorial at xda but they kept saying something about pushing via adb? Just need a little clarification. Thanks Charles

You dont need to push anything. either download to pc and mount sdcard and transfer, or download via phone and move in your file management app and boot into bootloader. There is also a file you can flash in recovery

I just couldn't wait, speciality since I tried do every single trick to get 1.40 working on my phone but no matter what I did it was a no go.

I got 1.40 working after about 50 tries, and when I flashed ra, it worked on the first try, but I was def interested in this. Still after i took the plunge a few questions arose, the next update is supposed to be 1.71 not 1.77 so that worries me

its nice to see someone made it flashable.

my question is: is there a flashable 1.4 out there now so I can revert back to it if I dont like 1.77?

So I downloaded the flashable file to my SD card now do I rename it PC36IMG.zip. or PC36IMG.zip at this point do I make a back up, do I need to turn off
then go to the bootloader look for the calvik and some other cache to wipe then find the file and install, turn off phone, pull battery restart and wait for the magic.
Thanks Charles.

If you are flashing it through bootloader, there is no need to do any wipes or backups. If you are flashing it through recovery, you might want to do a backup. Through bootloader, just rename the file to PC36IMG.zip and put it on the root of your sd card. Boot into bootloader, it will find the file and ask if you want to update radio_cust, you say yes and reboot after its done.

When you say place the file in the root of my sd card...after I downloaded I went into astro file mgr and under sd card it was listed in the download folder. Is the root of my sd card in the download folder or should I move the file to another folder? If so which one? Please forgive my ignorance and I owe you a 12 pack of your favorite beverage!:)

Root of sdcard is the view of all folders. Edit the file in the downloads folder, copy it, go up one level and you are in the root of the sdcard, select edit and paste file there not in any folders and you will be good to go

Wake69, tsipa and everyone else in between, Thank you, Thank thou, Thank you! Followed everyones instructions and boy did I make a big deal out of nada. Updated to 1.77 and I definitely can tell a difference. I don't have 4g and probably won't in the foreseeable future. But the last couple of weeks my 3g has sucked! I rooted about that time with help which is well documented. Any who I wonder if I need to update the radio and wimax. I flashed DC 3.5 beta but I can't get ahold of the developer. I donated tho get on their update list. Anyone have any suggestions? Don't need a ROM with 4g like stock just want something that is stable, wifi tether, good video I guess I want the perfect rom.
