Help backup verizon droid contacts to cvs file

Anybody know how to? or is this a trusted app/website to back them up to?

I don't think that sending your contacts to a drug store chain is save.

Your question isn't very clear, but to me it sounds like you want to put the contacts from your droid into a csv file?

If that is the case you don't need any separate program. you can go directly to http://www.google.com/contacts and there is a link that says "export" near the top right assuming you're logged in with the email associated with your phone.

yes iv been there... im trying to get my contacts off my phone not onto my phone. i need to back all my contacts up off my phone in a .cvs file not back my email contacts up.

If you have your Droid set to sync Contacts with your Gmail...then you can do it in Gmail. Either way, go to the menu while in the Contacts app and it gives you options for exporting.

no.. you cant. its set and i see no where that i can grab them its because stupid verizon wants you to pay the monthly fee to get your contacts onto their servers, that you can get off of it except copy and paste.

Gmail will sync all your contacts up to their servers if your sync settings are all active. Login to the web version of Gmail and they'll be there.

From the phone, just go into the Contacts menu and choose "Export to SD card". All contacts will be saved in a "vCard" format, which can be converted to .csv if need be, but not sure why. Copy the vCard (.vcf file) to PC or just email it to the PC...or wherever you need it.

Again, all this is on the Gmail help pages.

In Gmail Contacts...see the line across the top that says, "Import | Export | Print"? It might have helped you to actually look rather that get hostile.

And before you bring it up, yes, you can chose only specific groups of contacts (phone numbers) to export.

i wasnt ententionally being hostile chill out. but i went there and i click the export and i didnt see anything that say export from phone. now i do know that the droids do back up settings and contacts to google servers. but im not sure how to get to that.

you may be right ill go look again.

ok well you were right you can export from a android stored device but it says 0 contacts under that list.

ok well not to be a dick but i was right. it only back up my Google voice, and g mail contacts off my phone.. i want my phone numbers.

If you're trying to back up your phone numbers from your "DROID", I already outlined the process.

Go into your "Contacts" menu (on the DROID), in the menu, there should be an option to "Import/Export". You want export if you're trying to backup your contacts' phone numbers. This process will create a "vCard" file, which will be stored on your SD card. The file will have a .vcf file extension once created.

i... love... you... a days worth of work and it was as easy as that omg. make a tutorial and put that on you tube or make a tups forum about that. thank you so freaking much man. now i feel safer about restoring my phone and stuff. if i can. also do you know how to help me on this? iv had a long day with my phone...

We already told you...get a replacement phone or SD card.

You will save yourself a lot of frustration if you use the "search" feature on the main page. It will be very rare if you have question or issue that has not been covered already here.

the search i think kinda sucks on forums because theres such a wide variety of posts especially if it goes and looks inside the posts it gives you so much stuff

And also it isn't the sd card. iv had the phone for no more then a month. my mom and dad both have droids they have no problem. its strange and i cant find a single other case of a problem like this. i have formatted the sd card and i can also plug it into the computer threw an adapter which is how i formatted it.

Again, SD cards fail. Formatting the card will do nothing to recover corrupted sectors. Given that the PC only sees the Droid's SD card, and not the Android system running it, a corrupted SD card could throw a USB not recognized error on the PC.

Again, if its not the USB cable, USB drivers, or SD card, replace the Droid.

i think its the phone because it doesnt even register the phone. well it does but it doesnt want to talk to the phone. the sd card seems fine it can transfer to and from normally. but the phone is no wanting to talk to any computer

PC only connects to the Droid's SD card, not any of the phone's applications nor operating system...like with a Windows Mobile phone and the Active Sync app on a PC.

Is there a way to backup all the personalization & changes we are making on our Droids? With the Treo, the occasional crash was easily remedied with a restore from cpu, all downloaded programs and settings. How about with the Droid? I'd hate to have to recreate all that i've already done in 2 weeks! :eek:

If you sync with a G-mail account, the Droid will automatically keep a list of all programs you downloaded. After the reset (or if you get a new phone) it will re-download all those programs.

Thank you. i used to actually have to physically "hotsync" the Treo with a specific CPU. It seems that syncing the Droid is automatic to gmail (with the acct i set up). So, not only my contacts but also my personal settings are somehow stored in my gmail acct folder in cyberspace (the Cloud?).
