what do you use your HDMI cable for (EVO)?

Considering all you can use hdmi for right now is slideshows, videos, youtube, and iphonemoviez, there really isnt that many options.
Does "video" apply to only video content downloaded to the SD card and run through the phone's media software? Or does it also apply to Flash video content on websites? I have tried to get NHL games to hook up to my TV, and I got nothing.... but now that I think about it, I wasn't using the default browser (if that makes a difference).

I dont see another thread covering this.
What exactly is HDMI? What does it do? How do you use it?
lol. Anyone can call me a "newb" or whatever but, i dont know what it is.

So if anyone can help and explain exactly what it is and how to use it.
Thanks:)

Noob. JK, I was surprised you didn't know what HDMI is. Its basically the highest quality way to transfer audio/video now. Commonly used from an xbox, cable box, computer to an High Definition Display (TV, Monitor). It replaces a DVI or your standard COAX cable that you're probably using now. The EVO, like the guy above mentioned above uses "MICRO" HDMI (smaller connector). So your TV or monitor has a NORMAL HDMI port and your EVO a MICRO so you would need a cable that has a standard/NORMAL HDMI side and a MICRO side. Should be able to find one easily by googling "HDMI EVO CABLE" or something like that.

This "feature" is more of a gimmick IMO. The most practical use for it that I have seen is people putting sports on their big screens using the Sprint football (or something like that) app. I personally don't see myself using this... ever.

My kids use it to watch youtube a lot. Most videos translate to the tv screen quite nicely.

HDMI isn't the highest quality option, it's just the easiest.

Browse a forum like www.avsforum.com for a while and you'll get tired of hearing people complain about HDMI.

Not trying to nitpick here but... hdmi offers the highest video resolutions and highest bandidth of any video connector. The trouble most people have with it is determining whether or not their htpc is compatible with hdcp standards. The only other connector that came close to competing was firewire for video, but good luck finding a new tv with that interface.
