In my house.
I posted this in the HTC Magic sub-forum and got 0 replies. Since I know everyone in the Rogers sub-forum with a Magic and the official 2.1 update will have the same version, I'm hoping someone here can help me out! :)
-----------------------------------------------------------

Recently the Rogers HTC Magic was updated to Android 2.1 with Sense UI. I updated to it directly from Android 1.5 with no Sense UI, so I am having some difficulty with the "Photos" app (default gallery app).

I believe this is either the HTC Sense gallery app, or they have skinned the gallery app with Sense UI.

Either way, when I launch it, it shows me a list of my albums, however it only shows two, Camera Shots, and All photos, even though under 1.5 the gallery app showed an album for each of the different folders I had created to hold photos.

There is also, apparently, no option to add a new album. The Menu button brings up "Settings" which has no option to create a new album.

I know there are other gallery apps available, what I'd like to know is whether or not I can use the default "photos" app to create new albums, or otherwise have it show me the photos in the various folders.

NOTE: It does show the photos from those other folder, but it lumps it all in to the "albums" mentioned above.

Also, when you open an album, it shows you all the photos side by side in a line from left to right through which you have to scroll sideways. It won't show them as thumbnails in a grid, like it does when you access them when you choose wallpaper.

I'm not using the pure stock rom but it is based on it. I have two, the plain Photos and the 3D gallery. It looks like the plainer version that Rogers shipped (Is that the one?) is much faster. The Gallery is nice but can be a dog until it gets cached. What I do is to delete the thumbnails directory (I don't have the phone in front of me for the exact name) and then at launch the gallery/photos app has to create the thumbnails, let it sit to do that and then again inside the albums. After that it runs much faster. It is possible that the index is corrupted?
