Hey guys,

So I just purchased the Seidio Innocase Active X from here Amazon.com: Seidio Innocase Active X Case for Motorola Droid X (Black): Gateway

The Seidio user representative was kind enough to bring this listing to our attention and clarify that the Innocase Active X is actually a different model than the Innocase Active (Located on the Official Seidio website). The differences are merely cosmetic and can be shown here: http://androidforums.com/droid-x-ac...droid-x-now-available-amazon.html#post1640945

Packaging and Contents:

The package simply came in one of those clear plastic containers with these contents inside.

Actual Case:

Here are pictures of the case. It comes in two pieces: a Silicone Skin and plastic skeletal brace that has been covered with a rubberized paint to give it a nicer grip.

One thing to mention is that in the first pic, you may notice a slight discoloration on the inside of the skeletal brace. Upon closer examination, it's simply a spot that was not sprayed with the rubberized paint. I assume it was supposed to be aligned with the square indentation but the alignment was off and it comes off as a bit sloppy.

Putting the Case On:

Fitting the silicone case on was about as easy/simple as any other silicone case (***Although there was a some difficulty regarding a flap I will mention later). After fitting the silicone case, the skeletal bracing was placed over it and smoothly pressed into position. There were no audible or tactile snaps that the brace was fit on, just a smooth and soft "embrace" if you will.

Some complaints (Trivial or Substantial, up to you!)

DUST. This case has a moderate dust retention rate, but so do most silicone cases anyway. Just be aware!

Hard to press hardware buttons. As you can tell from the photos, the power/sleep button, volume rocker, and camera button are all covered with the case. Personally I really enjoyed this particular aspect of the case but it does require a harder finger press to activate the buttons. The power/sleep button for example will take some time getting used to as I am sure that we all use that button the most frequently. The volume buttons are the easiest to press (Fortunately!) and the camera button is by far the most difficult to press (Especially while trying to utilize its 2 step functionality)

Oddly Place Silicone Flap: This one is a rather substantial pain for me. Below is a picture demonstrating my current issue with this case. I often (As do many of you) pull down the notification bar. This particular case added this extra silicone bar across the top of the case which obstructs the Motorola logo. I can understand the aesthetic reason for implementing this design, but the practical purpose of it is beyond me. Every time I pull the notification bar, I either stretch this flap down or it impedes my finger movement and I have to re-swype. You may think this is a minor issue, but in practice, it can become a nuisance. I MAY altogether remove this silicone bar in the future but that may ruin the beauty of the case.

Conclusion:

I found that this case provides excellent shock absorption and looks sleek while doing so. There is a noticeable added bulk to it but it is by no means impractical to carry around. I would probably look to buy a different color in the future if the dust really bothers me (Possibly White!)

Overall, my first impressions are positive! If anything develops I will add it to this thread.

Pros:
+ Excellent shock protection
+ Visually appealing
+ Fantastic grip
+ Doesn't add too much bulk

Cons:
-
Dust magnet
- Obstructive silicone flap on the front
- Hard to press hardware buttons (Easy to overcome with daily use)

Hope you enjoyed that!

Looks like a good case but is it the kind of silicone that makes it hard to slid in and out of pockets? I hate having a case that "sticks" to the inside of my pockets and forces me to essentially pull my pockets inside out to pull the thing out.

That's what my problem is with 80% of the cases out there. Most of them are designed to "adhere" to the surface they are put on for some reason. I can't wear a holster because I either pop my phone off against a rack or when I sit down. The only one I've found was kind of a belt loop design that hung from your belt (think gun holster). However, that swings to freely most of the time or again bumps into stuff.

I want a good case that's not sticky, that slides nice and protects it from the dings in my pocket.

This review also helped me decide against this case as well. I'm hoping that Otterbox be the one I'm looking for.

Just put my case on and he is right dust dust dust but I think it will stop as it is used more otherwise it is a great fit and love the corner protection.I called and asked about the holster they said it was the wrong pic.

Okay, I ordered one last week too - its supposed to come tomorrow, but I'm already really annoyed about the fact that it was pictured with a holster, yet I won't be getting one. That is really irresponsible and pretty bad business. If Seidio made the mistake and had the wrong pic up for 2 days - then those people who ordered it should be getting a holster sent separately. I don't appreciate the false advertising.

This case is easier to pull out of your pant's pocket than a fully silicone one because of the skeletal brace, but it's still a little annoying.

The more I use this case, the more I appreciate how relieved I feel while walking around NY and using it to listen to music. I feel that my phone is very well protected.

However, while using it the past couple of days, I also realized this still isn't my perfect case. The silicone not only attracts a lot of dust, but I was never very fond of the elasticity of silicone cases around the edges of the screen. They bend and lift up occasionally while swiping and putting the phone in your pockets.

We sincerely apologize this. It is our mistake and we would like to resolve this for you. Please PM or e-mail us (forum@seidio.com) your order information.

That was a really great review, thank you.

Since I put my X in the Media Cradle for charging every night, I have to remove the case. I know that the Seidio Innocase will not hold up to a daily unsnapping of the case. Do you have any feel for how the Skeleton of this case would hold up to daily removal and replacement?

The skeletal brace will hold up to constant removal but I have my doubts about the silicone case. The main concern I would have about the daily removal is the stretching the silicone will experience. Over time, it may warp slightly and not fit as well as before. This is my speculation though as I have never previously had long term experience with silicone cases.

I bought the Innocase surface and it also has that annoying top bar that obstructs the notification swipe down manuever. Also, I found the bottom of the case is too close to the hard buttons. After four or five days, I had enough and ditched it. I now use the Moto glove sold at the Verizon stores. They address both of the Seidio's shortcomings.....no bar at the top (you can read 'Motorola') and the bottom lip is pushed back from the hard keys. Works with the extended battery (as did the Seidio). Good review.

I wish other flagship phones got as much attention from 3rd parties as any Apple product gets. Ugh.

This case looks too thick for me, but I want some kind of soft rubber case like the Innocase, but that looks bigger than their normal cases. If you were to buy the Innocase for the Incredible, you would notice the difference in thickness.

EDIT: Actually, does anyone have both cases to do a size comparison?
