I have followed directions exactly as given (several times now) and I continue to receive the following error message when trying to root the 2.2.1 update...
Failed to Open/sdcard/update.zip (no such file or directory)
E; signature verification failed
Installation aborted
Any ideas? The update file is there and is the correct file and is named "update.zip" . I have a 16gb high quality card...
I recall having the same problem when the FRF91 came out. I hope some expert can chime in but I think somehow the system is seeing the file as update.zip.zip or something. I don't recall if I used Astro and tried renaming it update. or just tried re-entering it update.zip
Sorry I can't be of any solid help here, I wish I could remember more
Rusty, why do we have to wait for Vodafone? I thought with the nexus they pretty much left alone and didn't contaminate it with their crap - hence my purchase. I've got froyo out the box and no vodaphone stufff on it at all - so far anyway!
Because although they don't stuff their crap on it, they do modify it from the original version, not in anyway noticeable really, but it causes a delay. It was at least 3 weeks before they let FRF91 out.

this.
If you are using Windows, it's probable that you've got "Hide Extensions" activated, so you just see "Update". If you add .zip, then for the system is "update.zip.zip"
It DOES word installing it from the SD card
Woah! Been out all weekend and quickly read this thread Friday but didn't really think much of it. Left my phone at home today. So when i came home found the update waitingf for me * yay*
