Hello All,

On friday I finally get to upgrade to a new phone and was wondering which one of these you all think would be the better choice for me. I am on sprint so that isn't a problem. I am coming from a balckberry so I believe that any one of these phones will be a huge improvement from what I am currently using. I just wanted some input on which one you all think is better and why.

Thanks

People are going to throw this and that specs your direction, but the decision should ultimately be a simple one. Do you want a hardware keyboard (yes or no)? Get the Epic if you want the keyboard, get the Evo if you don't. Be sure to stop by a Sprint store and play with both to form your own opinion, not just want fanbois of either group will tell you.

I came from a Blackberry and went with the Hero, as it was the only option at the time. I think it's a great phone but after using a physical keyboard (hardware) with the BB and prior to that Palm Treo (which I still miss), I still struggle like mad with the Hero. I tried all the keyboards out there (found Swiftkey to be by far the best for me) but still, the touch screen key typing just isn't my bag. I could type up a text with my BB in no time at all, but have had to slow down, really concentrate and look at what I'm doing with my Hero - although thousands of you out there just love the touchscreen keyboard and don't struggle at all (even those of you with bigger hands and fingers than I have!). So no, I don't have the Evo (although I have seen it and used it) - but it's still touch screen - and that's not for me. So, when my upgrade is due next month, I'm going for the Epic, purely because of the physical keyboard. If you haven't used a touchscreen before, do yourself a huge favor and spend some time playing with one in a Sprint store - I found (and still find) it very hard to use.

The epic has the best of both worlds with some great specs that I think better the Evo and I'm normally a HTC/sense kind of guy. You get the virtual and the hard keyboard with the epic. The screen knocks evo's out of the water. It's just as big (if not bigger in some specs but smaller in others), but it's very fast, very receptive, and overall the best phone I've had in a while. It's certainly the best android phone I've had (came from Hero). And I can't talk enough about the screen. It's bright and beautiful, even in sunlight.

I've not had any issues with GPS on the epic, but the fix along with the upload issue is in the works. All phones have glitches when they first come out and the epic's only been around for just over a month. Give it a chance. It's currently the BEST phone out there as stated by many reputable review sites including phonedog and droiddog among others. Feature for feature it beats the Evo even with the 5mp camera (with better pics and videos than evo). The only thing the Evo has on Epic is Android 2.2 but we will get soon enough.

You're welcome! Glad to help! And now my Epic is much more fun now that I have not only root, but clockworkmod working! Root was easy, but getting clockwordmod to work from a mac took a little doing!

Is it easy to unroot if you would have to send the phone back in for something? A friend of mine has a dell streak and that is the case with his but I think that might be android 1.6, not sure if the case is the same for 2.1.

What does the clockwordmod app get you? Overclocking capabilities?
