Ok, so I read this thread and tried the clear cache first. My phone went haywire. I couldn't get a 3G signal any more when in Launcher Pro. Changed back to Blur and got 3G but phone was a snail. I made my already sluggish phone REALLY slow...

So, I went through this step by step and dayum! It's like I added a second processor. Everything is much snappier and 3G is sailing along..

I should have done this in the first place... Now back to fixing my long hours of customization...

I tried the clear cache first, (which required a battery pull for the phone to power up), wasn't satisfied so did the reset. I get the feeling I will have not gained much, but we'll see. Nearly done restoring stuff.

I had AppBrain to restore installed apps, LPP export, Folder Organizer export and screen shots. Still a lot of work.

You didn't notice any difference right out of the gate with some functions? In some areas, my phone was still very laggy and lethargic but after the complete wipe, it's like a new phone.

I had ADW and LPP on and off the phone several times since I got the phone along with dozens of other apps and I'm wondering if that had any impact on the phone. I put everything back EXCEPT LPP and I'm still sailing along. I'm going to wait for an update or two more before putting LPP back on...

I haven't really used it yet, just got my apps installed, screens set up and it was bedtime.

Phone worked good after OTA until yesterday when I checked running services and found a bunch of crap, like city id running, which I stupidly deleted the cache on each and stopped. Did this to about 5 or 6 apps, then got FC's on things like Dolphin Browser, which had never had any problems and a reboot didn't help. This is probably the kind of stuff that the app killers see. Then a coworker just got a new X over the weekend and yesterday was crying about his battery life so I opened my battery details and got a FC. Funny thing, his neighbor swore up and down he had an app that fixed everything... an app killer.

Just cleared the cache myself, I am not running 2.2 OTA, but one of the leaked 2.2 variants (I went from 2.1 -> 2.2 -> Deodexed and bloat removed 2.2) with only doing factory resets, no cache formats.

I didn't notice a huge difference on boot, but I did notice that, when using LauncherPro, the Application list (when adding a new icon to the home screens) now appears almost instantly. Before, even with the custom app screen the LP author added, it would take about 5-10 seconds for my app list to appear, now it takes 1 at the most.

EDIT: I will see if this resolves my battery issue (phone not sleeping AT ALL some days, with GPS disabled and no apps reportedly doing anything other then idling in the background).

Before I upgraded to the OTA 2.2 I went into recovery and did a factory reset and wiped data, wiped the cache partition, and then made a backup just in case. Resulted in a perfect upgrade with no issues whatsoever. I use AppBrain, so getting my applications back wasn't an issue. I don't care much about data. Most of my, "data," was stored in some random applications that I have no intention of using anymore, my contacts are in the cloud, I took my media and some data off my memory card ahead of time and formatted it, etc.

I TOTALLY forgot I used that! I went from leaked 2.2 to OTA 2.2 and was dreading trying to remember all my apps. Reading this helped me out...thanks!

Battery life is better after the reset.

I charged before going to bed, woke with 100% (short lived), now "uplugged for 16 hours" and still 90%. To be fair, I've only used my phone for about 10 minutes today.

I had good battery life (3-1/2 days with light use), then about the time I installed my extended battery, I must have installed or changed something that made it much worse.

I actully did this by accident.
After fooling around with the 2.1 multitouch keyboard, I had been left default keyboard less, and was using a replacement.
Well I went ahead and did a FR and guess what - NO Keyboard! DOH!
So I skipped everything, went and installed the keyboard from the SD, and then entered all my data. voila! backup free restore!

So I did the update, but prior to the update and currently... I'm running LPP. Really didn't have any problems before the update or after. Couple of things changed... but no real issues. Not even sure I need to do a factory reset.
IF i do do a factory reset will I lose all my LPP settings? That would suck.

hopefully mine went well - just got a replacement, fresh install of 2.2 manually done with no google account log in, unchecked the settings for auto restore/backup, then logged into google account. fresh sd card in the phone, no need to wipe it.

I just did the same thing with my replacement, but I wiped everything anyway just for good measure.:D

Yes it will and you do not want to use a restore LPP backup but it will be worth it.
