So, can anyone shed any light on the issues we are having with getting stuck at the boot animation after rebooting? I've tried flashing at least 20 times with up to 10 wipes and cache clears, tried both restore options, etc... every time it boots up fine the first time, but when I try and reboot it gets stuck at the boot animation. I've asked on multiple forums and no one has an answer but there are a bunch of us having the issue.
I've tried with both 8.0 and 8.1...
Anyone care to take a stab at this?

I would be sure I was wiping/formatting data, cache, system and boot, from the partitions menu, then since the stock kernel obviously isn't working, I'd try another kernal, first a medium/standard voltage Chevy or Slayher, then a high voltage.

Yup, tried all of those. Even a new kernel. Nothing seems to work. Let me reiterate that it boots up fine and runs great after the initial flash. But when you try and reboot after that it freezes and won't boot past the boot animation. Very strange. I'm really at a loss. I'd love to get off CM6 but can't get it to work.

This poster sure does frequent this thread for someone who can't use the ROM. LOL

(To clarify, lest someone out there thinks I'm being mean. GirLuvsDroid is a friend of mine. Just razzing her a little. ;) )

She frequents a lot of threads. A nice person with a wealth of knowlege. I am not suprised.

twistedlim, thank you for the kind words, but I knew messenger was just jerking my chain the second I read his post! He thinks he's funny :D, but generally when he posts stuff like that I just . LOL

8.1? Did I miss something?

I'm glad I didn't sleep on this ROM. It's very clean and so far stable (knock on wood). I love the UD settings interface and options. I'm using Chevy's 1.1 LV kernel and battery life is up to par with what I'm usually used to. I do notice a lag when opening up apps but not a big deal. This might be the ROM that I'll keep until I get a new phone.

I found a weird bug with the modified Phone app. If I dial *228 to program, the numbers disappear off the screen and I have to use the hardware keyboard to enter digits. Aside from this bug I don't even really like the looks of the modified phone app compared to stock either, so I'd rather revert to the stock phone app.

No big deal, in the UD Settings menu under Modified Apps I'm given the option to install the stock Phone app... except it doesn't work. When I tap to install the stock Phone app I get an error message: "The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

WTF! Anybody else have the same issue or if you tap to install the stock Phone app does it install it successfully?

I can't install the stock phone or a different boot animation either. I get the same error. Otherwise this Rom is perfect.

I love this rom. Ive never had a rom with the stability and battery life like this rom and I even switched to launcherpro because of it. I do have one issue though, its stupid and it might be me, but for some reason on this rom, when im typing (standard android keyboard) and i hit spacebar it goes to the home screen like i hit the haptic button which i did. Is there any way this rom could have the display set a few points lower then other roms? its just odd in 10 months of owning this phone its only happened now lol.

Installing a different boot animation is easy if you use Root Explorer (or terminal if you like the non-gui route), but if I remember correctly UD8 only uses /data/local for boot animations... not /system/media (both work with other ROMs).

I eventually gave up on trying to get the stock dialer to work. I still love UD but I've been playing with different ROMs while I await UD9. Right now playing with Miui ROM... trying to work out the kinks, I'm not sure I'll be able to but it's promising as hell.

I love it...it didn't work great the first time, but after reinstalling it is snappy and customizable. I have a few questions though that I couldn't figure out:

Can I change the background of the notification bar? It is black and it is hard to see some of the icons.

In gmail app, I can't tell the unread messages from the read messages...can i customize this and how? Used Stock font and this solved the problem

The phone dialer is not the best looking. Can i change the appearance of it?

The text in Handscent is too light, I would like to make it more bold...can I...fixed in handscent settings

Any help with these would be much appreciated.

You can change system font in Ultimate Droid settings, (first item on the list under settings).
I installed the black glass 928 theme and love it, (which also provides a nicer dialer) still have the black notification bar tho... hopefully UD9 will address this.
