Root [ROM] rubiX Focused 0.3 by drod2169

I think I am going to throw in the towel on this one. I tried installing the app from the system/app folder with all permissions open and read/write on. No luck. The other car apps are OK, but moto actually got this one right. I think I need a blurless ROM with just a little blur :) Going back to R2D2. It was fun playing with this today.

Just copy cardock.apk or whatever it's called into the /system/apps folder, change the permissions, and restart the phone. It'll install it automatically when it reboots. I've done this multiple times when dealing with Tranquility's choice of stock google apps over the superior blur ones.

How do you change permissions after copying an app back?

You're right, there really isn't anything to "see" that's different, it's just an improvement over what was previously there.

What are they, please?

i tried installing it but I did it throught ROM manager and it didn't take all the way. So I restored to what I had. But now Im thinking its not worth the hassle to reinstall it. These ROMS don't really change much. NO offense to any one I know it takes time but at this point with the locked bootloader and all these ROMS should be called app changers.

FREE THE BOOTLOADER!:D

don't forget to mount the system when doing this or you will brick your phone:(

Yeah, almost got myself on that when I installed it.......formated the system, data and cache and went back thinking "Okay, time to install from SD"......before I got to that point though I remembered to go back and mount the system.

That being said, I have had no issues with this ROM yet, the only thing that went wrong so far is LauncherPro did not show unread email count in the dock no matter what I did, but I installed LP before Gmail (forgot that this rom removed the stock google apps as well) and reinstalling LP fixed it, so no major biggie.

I have had 1 force close on the phone so far, and it was Timeriffic on my first reboot after installing AppBrain and 20 other apps (along with Timeriffic), since then I have not had anything force close yet, not even the battery manager (which only happened a few times every now and then anyway).

Overall it does seem much more smooth, it shuts down and boots up quicker than I have ever seen it do so before, and I have yet to see it get sluggish like it did every now and then on the last rom I was on (but, I have been running it for less than a day, so that could change, only time will tell).

I got the panorama assist issues straightened out this morning, I've uploaded the blurcamera.apk file that worked for me, you can download it HERE.

All you need to do is put the file on your sdcard, then use root explorer to delete the current blurcamera.apk file from system/app, then copy the new apk file and move it to system/app, you then need to change the permissions to: user; read, write - group; read - and others; read. If you try to install the file it will not work, you just need to power down the phone, turn it back on and you should be all set..

Any way to change file permissions without root explorer? I'm too cheap to pay for it and using ES file explorer, while it can explore the root files, it cannot change permissions it seems.

You could do it through adb but I wouldn't even know where to begin when it comes to that. Root Explorer is definitely worth the little bit o' money.

Flash this, Drod2169 has calender and brightness fixes.

Use Bootstrap and make sure you mount the system, you can not flash these at the same time I think it unmounts the system after the first .zip

Calendar:
calendarfix.zip

Brightness:
brightnessfix.zip

experiencing problems using the calendar in this rom. com.google.calendar or whatever it is.... force close every time. anyone else? this a bug?

Hey guys, sorry I was just made aware of this thread! :)

As you all can see, the point of the rom is simplicity, stock, vanilla android (for the most part)
This rom is built for speed and stability, and I feel it's started to bring out the actual potential the X is capable of. I put a lot of sleepless nights into this rom, and a lot of sbf flashes. It's not perfect yet, but overall, it runs great. I've been running this build for two weeks, and my testers for about a week and a half.
The blur car dock and dock are two things I'm considering putting back in, or at least releasing a patch to replace with the blur car dock and media dock.

For calendar, if you clear data for it in the manage applications menu, that should help it sync after the patch if the patch didn't fix.

I'm also working on a blurry type rom, that makes the blur actually stable and enjoyable. It's in the final stages of testing, but I'm working out a few more tweaks and bug fixes before I release it.

For screens of the blurless rom, go here: http://bit.ly/c3XpII
Credit for the screens go to one of my testers, paradisewaits.

FREE THE BOOTLOADER...or I am leaving:mad:
I don't think I will ever buy Moto again!!!

Didn't you say you would buy the best hardware? Having a change of heart?
But yeah Moto are total Sheetheads. I was on their site for about 30 minutes before I got banned for talking about bootloaders , well I banned myself but they were pissed I brought up their BS with the bootloader efuse. Apparently you aren't allowed to talk about it there. Oh and Don't mention birdman over their either. :D But before I left I let them know I used to be a loyal customer but as of now never again. I'm sure they were sad to lose me LOL
