I have the Sprint EVO and also have att as an internet provider. My phone goes out and gets my email from both att and gmail. (Phone is set to leave email on server) The messages one the phone are there to read, reply, delete...normal stuff. But when I turn on my desktop using Outlook (which is set to delete the emails AFTER retrieving them), all the emails are gone from my phone. It didn't use to do that.

Is there a way to fix this?

thanks
robert

i have noticed this with my CM6 rooted phone. the best suggestion i can give is get a new e-mail client. k-9 and mail-droid are two popular ones. k-9 retained the mail for me but would not properly connect to my outgoing server for some reason and maildroid would not connect at all(kept throwing PW errors, however i know the PW was correct and i copy/pasted the server info from a working client).

my problems with these clients aside, they both have high ratings and may work for you.

Check the "sync" dates - the default I believe is 7 days. When the device syncs on this setting, all emails over "x" days old will be removed from the device.

The other one could be that one of your email servers pulls the emails off it (like to outlook) and isn't leaving a copy on the server anymore. This would make the device think it was deleted and remove it from the list.
