i keep losing my 3g signal. it started when i switched to wifi mode. then when switching back to 3G the 3G signal never came back on. After a reboot 3g returned.

now this afternoon my 3g signal just dissapeared on its own.

anyone else having the same issue? maybe my phone is finally dying.

I use WiFi for data far more than 3G, but this has never happened to me. There is a power control widget that comes with Froyo that lets you turn data off. You could try installing that widget to see if data is switched off for some reason. (There must be a setting for that somewhere. Look at settings->mobile networks. See if "Data enabled" is checked. Also, any chance that you are roaming, with the roaming setting that is there turned off?)

One last thing - are you still running Tazz 1.0? Perhaps try updating to a later version.

i have power widget installed and use it to go back and forth from wifi to 3g.

actually am running v9 - just haven't updated my profile here at AF.

i just reflashed the current radio image and hopefully that will help.

i also read elsewhere it could be a cyanogen issue with the dailies.

we'll see.

Why do people leave the 3G (mobile) on all the time. All it does is drain the battery.

Just turn it on when you needed to check e-mail and such.

I don't see as much of a benefit leaving it off all the time. Your still connected to 3G, just no data connection is open, similar to how dumbphones do it. Granted, sitting idle will consume much less battery than one being used. So it does remove the possibility of an app deciding to keep whoring the connection while your not looking. I just like it being on demand when I need it.

Now, disabling auto-syncing on the other hand, it does make a noticeable difference. No matter what.

IMO leaving 3g off kind of defeats the purpose of having this kind of phone. I want it going out and syncing with my email and facebook and whatever and alerting me when something new comes up. Thats part of the fun.
