Help Absolutely Stumped

I have a Moto Droid 2 running 2.2 and rooted of course. I decided to do a factory reset from within Settings-Privacy, but before I did a COMPLETE Titanium Backup of all programs with Data.

After the Factory Reset, the phone stayed rooted and started downloading all the apps I had installed all by itself. I used the Titanium Backup to restore all apps/data from the previous backup, but have a problem now. ????

Up near the 3G symbol, there is the "sync" symbol ALLLLL the time, never goes away, but very little data is being used.

What I found is that within Settings-Applications-Manage Applications-Running, there is a service running called "Accounts Storage" that is a red box with the little Motorola M in it. I can clear the cache and it resets, but when I do a Force Stop, that is the ONLY time the sync'ing icon next to the 3G goes away.

I still get my e-mail, calendar, texts, GV, phone calls etc, but that icon is there all the time. If I Force Stop it, it starts up in 1 minute exactly.

Does anyone know what this is, how to fix it or what to do? It doesn't appear to be doing anything, but I'm kinda stumped as to what was broken when doing the backup/restore.

Thanks!

Well...guess I'm the only one that can screw up a phone this bad...so VZW is sending me out a new D2 because they don't know how to fix it either.

They did send me on to the Data tech dept, of which I've never talked to...kinda like the M.I.B. department and this lady was sharp! Said she was able to see my data usage and what was using it etc....and whatever is wrong is using about 1MB an hour over and over and over.

I asked if it could be the "Mystical" update we're all waiting on for the Droid 2, she kinda chuckled and said we're still a few months out. Then she got back to business. So I don't know if she was just blowing me off, or what, but it was her tone and laugh that made me think they get asked about 1000 times a day. lol

Yeah....been looking through the forums to see how to completely wipe everything and start from scratch on the D2. On the D1 I had it down to a science, but this phone is a little different. :)

It won't be here until tomorrow so I still have about 48 hours left to find it. If I don't, then the phone might just mysteriously fall from the 10th floor and I'll do a warranty replacement. LOL

Thanks

It's easy to remove root, if that's all you've done (i.e., no ROMs/themes applied).

If not, then you can follow the steps below:

- open the terminal app
- you should see a $ symbol, now do the following
- su
- now you should see a # symbol
- mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
- rm /system/app/Superuser.apk
- rm /system/bin/su
* rm /system/bin/busybox
- mount -o ro,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
- reboot your phone. Toda, no more root
- Complete a factory reset to clear all your personal data and apps you've installed off it
