New sense, is purely software, there is no reason to doubt it wont come to the Desire in time. Ive ordered the HD, why i here you ask. Ive big hands, i can handle 4.3 inches, plus i have a phone upgrade due on my 2nd contract end of this month. Sadly i`ll be saying goodbye to my lovely Desire , and its AMOLED goodness, i dont need 2 phones :p

cant see why htc dont push new software to the desire as its still the top of the range with most phone retailers, and has sold loads so far;)

heheheh
got any proof to say otherwise?

the hacked version thats running on desire works so there is no reason htc will not integrate it officially.

they are just not doing it at the moment as they are busy

The burden of proof falls to the person making the claim that something exists.

One must assume that something doesn't exist unless there's proof to say otherwise... why wouldn't you? ;) ..and, as yet, there's no proof that HTC will be releasing the new Sense for the Desire!

Spoke to HTC earlier today about something unrelated and slipped the question in when they asked if there was anything else I wanted help with :)

The guy said we would get it, but he didn't know when. He said it will not come until we get the update for the new HTC sense interface / skin which is apparently required for the backup features etc? Anyway he said we would, but he couldn't give me a date or any more info.

I think it's a possibility, HTC isn't Motorola, if this was Motorola they'd be saying "no, buy our new phones if you want updates". The Nexus One is still being supported and still being shipped to new distributers (like Mobilicity), I don't see why they won't continue support on the original Desire since it's a high demand device.

The new Sense will have some UI improvements, probably a new look and a way to access your phone via htcsense.com to backup, locate and wipe (like Motoblur does).

Here's what it might look like (dockbar), taken from AuraxTsense
