I made my 1st red and black swype theme for the version I am using with built in mic.

I learned alot and had alot of help. You can read about it here:

Hmmm. I thought I was within the rules, but I can see where the link title would confuse.

My post was intended as a "how to" and the steps I took while learning to retheme an apk.

Now if others are using my links for nefarious purposes, well then, I cannot help that :rolleyes:

I had the best interests of the Android community in mind I swear.

LOL Yeah well the theme looks nice. I don't think I could ever do it though. The problem with modding Swype is you do all that work for about 6-8 weeks of use and thats IF you get it done right after they release the newest "beta". I'm not sure why no one has been able to "mod" a swype apk and take the auto killer portion out of it so that when everyone elses expires, it will keep working. Surely that can't be that hard. Can it?

Understood.

I think many in the Android community would agree with the following statement.

"Swype has handled their beta poorly and almost all of us would gladly pay for a market version at this point even if it wasn't absolutely perfect".

I got tired of searching for a copy that worked, started using the default keyboard and have realized that I am sending messages and emails with fewer mistakes.

To hell with Swype. They blew it!

I would love to try this but I am afraid that I will lose any "learning" Swype did if I replace the install. Do you know if it will retain that or what I have to back up to make sure I keep that history?

Just as an FYI, I downloaded this (and really liked it) but it screwed with my phone and had to uninstall.

When I would click a link to go into Facebook from GMail, it would think I was coming in from a Galaxy Tab and wouldnt take me anywhere. It would take me to a mostly blank page where it would say "Download the Facebook app for Galaxy Tab".

It took my a while to figure it out, but as soon as I uninstalled your port, it went back to normal and I could get back into FB.

So, those who use FB a lot, you may want to reconsider DLing this. Otherwise, it was nice while it lasted.

I'm in the beta, so it's not a huge deal, but I loved the red/black theme.

This version was reworked from a Vibrant which has Swype preloaded.

It should not expire.
