About a week ago or so, I noticed that when e-mails get sent to my Gmail account, I get very inconsistent push to my Droid. Occasionally it will update instantly, but most times it will take much much longer (hours). I can go into Gmail on the Droid , sync, and the new e-mails will show of course. But the "push" seemed to stop working consistently about a week ago.

Anyone else notice this?

p.s. My Droid is still on 2.0, I haven't gotten the 2.0.1 update yet - perhaps 2.0.1 will correct this anyway. Here's hoping ... :)

I haven't noticed it but gmail is not my primary account so I don't get many emails. I usually have it turned on on the computer as well as the phone and it usually gets to the phone first.

ETA: I just sent myself an email at 9:08. It arrived at my phone almost immediately and now my computer has received it as well. I do not use the stock email app. I use handcent.

mine is pushing instantly so I haven't noticed any delays. gmail isn't my primary email either but what I do is to have all my other accounts forward to gmail (usually keeping a copy at the original server) and I get an instant notification and can then decide if I want to check the original email account or deal with it in gmail. This allows me to keep the other accounts on a long sync time and save battery. This has been a real time saver for me since one of my other accounts is VPN access only and I now only need to connect when I really need to thanks to gmail push to the phone. I like it.

I didn't know that Handcent handled any email. Is it a good email app?

I'm on 2.0.1 and Gmail push has not been working for me (or perhaps it's just really slow, but I have received mail on my computer that has not yet arrived on the Droid). My exchange account has been pushing fine and quickly.

Drats. I was hoping 2.0.1 would fix whatever has been plaguing the Gmail push lately. Oh well, hopefully Google/Verizon is aware of this.

I wonder if any other phones are having this issue?

I've been having similar problems for a couple days now. The notification panel sometimes claims new gmail....then I go to the screen and the inbox won't refresh and show it to me.... Or I just get no notification for hours.

I'm technology handicapped....so offbeat question....but could google be bogged down with droid updates and affecting gmail?

Doesn't seem to be a network issue. It doesn't push over WiFi either. :( It is becoming a bother now. I hope it is addressed soon ..

I have Google Apps Sync (push on my iPhone 3GS, Droid arrives today), the last few days it has been terrible, pretty much useless. I think this presents huge problems for Google.

1. They are attempting to lure enterprise customers away from Microsoft, yet they don't provide a reliable mobile solution.

2. People using the Droid, who are experiencing this issue may think it is their Droid and may not realize it is gmail. Black eye for the Droid?

Google needs to address this ASAP

Well .. I got the 2.0.1 update last night, and - perhaps coincidentally - my Gmail e-mail push seems to be working fine today ... Anyone else's better now?

No I am still having problems, but for me it pretty much started up over the last couple days. Perhaps not coincidentally (or perhaps it is a coincidence, I have no friggin idea), I have just recently started using Home replacements. Anybody think it could be related to a new home replacement? Got the update this morning...worse than ever....
