Froyo 2.2 available for GW620 Eve

Tried this one out, recommend waiting til they get a few more releases in to Froyo, this version v6.0-rc4 seems to be a bit too sluggish compared to the v4.5-rc1 that they released. Also I noticed my phone was very very warm running this build compared to the 2.1 release, will wait and see how it turns out.

hello can you upload a video demo to youtube with the new version 6.0rc4, to see how it works!!:)

Ok so I got it, found it ok. Lost my contacts but now I wanna go back to 1.5; recover it back to the way it was before i made that change. Anyone know how?

Don't suppose you made a back up copy via NANDROID of your original img?

If not you may need to find someone who does have it and ask of them.

Why do you want to go back? Is there something specific you needed from that img?

It was my first time doing this and no I did not. And I was pissed I lost all of my contacts, I guess that's why I waned to go back but I changed my mind.

It is a little sluggish sometimes. The battery life is longer; it's not hot or anything. I do want to know a way to maximize it's performance.
But I do want the alarm clock, calculator, and the market apk, etc.

Actually I'm trying to get the Market.apk, youtube.apk, fm radio, and other apps that could work on the froyo. Anyone know why Dolphin HD does not have flash or there is a way to dd it on the browser?

And question about the camera, are they gonna fix that bug. Because I don't like how as soon as I take a picture the screen goes all static and pink

I'm running 6.0 and have nothing really all that bad to report. Everything's still beta so there are a few non-functional features. The GPS works, the camera does too but it behaves awfully strangely. I have no idea if the FM radio works as I've never had use for that feature. The only features that I really miss are bluetooth (which I'm sure is coming) and the spell checker (which I'm told is a matter of taking a few files from the standard GW620 software and transplanting them).

Apart from all that 2.2 is wonderful. I'm getting improved battery life 70% remaining after 25 hours off the charger. The phone also works a little more smoothly and the Froyo interface is a lot nicer to use than what LG originally gave you. The integrated task manager and the toggle widget alone make Froyo a must have for me - oh, can't forget the numeric battery meter. These three features have replaced every widget I ever used on 1.5 which I'm sure is a contributing factor to my improved battery life. The voice features are also surprisingly useful. So long as you can enunciate everything clearly it really does pick up and put down everything you're saying.

I feel I should also note that this was my first attempt at doing anything to my phone. Prior to the 2.2 update I hadn't even hooked my phone up to my computer. The installation instructions on OpenEtna are a little fuzzy for the first time user but, really, spend a little bit of time getting acquainted before you hook up your phone and you shouldn't have any worries.

PS. My average daily use includes Facebook, Gmail and several dozen texts.

I was a bit afraid to "break" my phone by installing the unofficial Froyo from OpenEtna but I am really satisfied with it (great job). I just couldn't wait more for a non-confirmed official update from Rogers or LG.

And for the FM radio, I would be quite happy to test it, but the software is not provided with the img. If someone could provide me the .apk file for the FM radio of LG Eve I would be quite happy to test it and give you an answer.

In the meantime, I still have my old Sandisk e200 for the FM radio. It does the job :) !

I'm just wondering why all the sudden it saved my contact but it won't even show when I'm searching for that particular contact. Anyway to solve this problem?

You had this problem after installing Froyo 2.2 ? As you might have read here, it is beta software. Don't expect everything to work well.

I am not a developer for OpenEtna, only a user that appreciate the efforts made by the community to deliver an update that I will probably never see from Rogers. I am really disappointed by Rogers on this but I decided to take the time to read and understand the procedure before and to do it myself and I have no regrets. Even a 2.2 with a few bugs is much better and seems more responsive than the old 1.5 provided by Rogers and LG.

This forum is really interesting for LG Eve in general, but if your question is more related to the OpenEtna unofficial firmware, I suggest you subscribe to the OpenEtna forum at OpenEtna Forum - Index . It is also possible to submit an issue at Issues - openetna - Project Hosting on Google Code but I suggest you start by doing a search on the forum first.

Yeah it had happened recently and it saves some of my contacts. But I'm going to check the forum
