Help Factory Data Reset? Gmail account...

ok, this did not work for me, this cloud did not exist for me, I reset my phone, lost all contacts forever. Logged the phone onto my Gmail account and it said no contacts to sync.

What now? How can I make sure that when I do import these contacts from Outlook, that I can get them on my CLOUD gmail account???

Were all your contacts present from within your gmail account from the start? If you import your contacts from Outlook then they likely were never synced to your gmail account at all.

One easy way to handle this is to export your Outlook contacts to a .csv file on your PC. Then log into gmail from your PC. Click on contacts and then click on "Import Contacts" on the left. Within the dialog box click "Choose File" then navigate to the .csv file that you exported from Outlook. Also check the box that says "Also add these imported contacts to:" and select the group called "My Contacts". Gmail syncs all contacts within your "My Contacts" group to your phone. Of course if you don't want all your Outlook contacts to be present on your phone then you will have to manually add or remove folks from the "My Contacts" group.

If you ever add new contacts to your Outlook, then you can export just those new contacts and then import them into gmail they will sync with your phone. Now when you flash a new ROM and sign into your google account, the contacts that are present within gmail will sync back with your phone.

Hope that helps.

Now the question is, I have almost all my contacts on my phone, how do I sync those with Gmail and then be able to see them online if needed??

I tried the above way and it took 2 seconds for it to say done, and it did not put any in my Gmail account.

Did you manually enter them all? When adding it had a drop down for google or phone..which did you select?

If they are on your phone as "Gmail contacts", not "phone contacts", they will sync. If not, you can export the contacts from the phone, transfer that file to your computer, then import into gmail on your pc.

This...

and remember...when you add a ton of contacts it's easier to add them from a desktop with internet access to gmail...then sync your phone to gmail

Hey, Thanks, I did that and all worked, I got my contacts online with Gmail now, and I went through the phone and deleted off the double entries that it made, while I was deleting from the phone, they would disappear online while I was looking at computer. That was freaking neat!!!

Thanks for all the help and being patient with us newbies!!!
