Root [ROM] rubiX Blurry and rubiX Focused 0.5 by drod2169

So, if you install OTA then Home

That is the one I tried but kept getting into and endless bootloader error. Struggled with the thing all dam day yesterday and could not get it out of that endless loop. Really frustrating because the sbf trick has worked in the past.

The first time I tried to flash the phone I used the old Gift VRZ_MB810_1.13.6.2_1FF_01.sbf and screwed it up. Then could never get the version you referred me to installed. I have never had this much trouble before really odd.

Now that we estabalished how NOT to flash a Droid X. Here is my thinking correct me when wrong please.

Get the new one up and running. Make sure battery is fully charged (HIGHLY IMPORTANT)
Make sure OS is updated.
Root
Install bootstrap program.
Follow the install instructions on how to install RubiX 0.5

Sound about right?

Sounds about right. Make sure you follow instructions how to install ROM, don't miss mount/system step.

And just my opinion: if you happened to get a replacement with 2.1, don't upgrade OTA, root it first with universal androroot and then download bootstrap and ROM Manager from market. Rom Manager under "download ROM" has stock 2.2 image, which you can upgrade later to leaked 2.3.15 That way you would be able to use old full .sbf in case if you screw things up.

For some reason the blurry version is missing 'Google voice search' and 'Google search', fortunately they can both be re-downloaded via the market

Odd. I cant find google voice search, the soft key doesnt work. Even stranger, I go into the market, try to download, it says installed...and I can't uninstall it. Then I hit open, and it says "process com.google.voicesearch" has stopped unexpectedly. Any thoughts?

Edit: I used Titanium Backup to delete. Redownloaded & Installed. Now everything works - except the search button on front of phone. hmmmm. I'll take any ideas

It's been a couple of days now and I wanted to report back.
Since flashing back to leaked 2.3.15 (with Revolution) my 3g speeds have been restored. Which unfortunately has me convinced it was Rubix Blurry .3 causing the problems.

When Blurry was installed I noticed the same issue.
If whats happening to your phone is exactly the same, then the search button should still function within apps and a long press should still bring up voice search outside of them.
As far as solutions go, I couldn't come up with any. However my theory is it probably has something to do with a a piece of blur that was removed.

@Phone Gnome - you're right, the long hold does work as a voice search, but the one click doesn't bring up a basic search function. I find the voice search to be pretty dead on balls accurate, so I'll play around with it for a while - just never realized how much I used that search button before it went away - there were 3 or 4 separate occasions yesterday where I was like F*&% when it didnt work...before I uninstalled with Titanium - that long hold caused the crash. Hopefully dev will come out with 0.4 soon with this fixed.

Thanks for your help

The phone search button is tied to the voicecommands.apk file. Do you have that listed in your system apps?

I am currently running rubiX focused. In addition to what appears to be a signal loss, I have noticed strange battery behavior. Specifically, i've noticed that while my total time that I am able to actually use the phone heavily has improved (more display time and call time), my phone's resting battery life under light use has dropped significantly. This surprised me, especially given that all of the bloatware and background processes that use the internet should be gone.

i have no issues while the phone is disengaged and at rest state.

ensure that you are not pulling updates from your email/gmail/twitter/facebook/etc accounts.

one thing i did notice is that i am not able to tweak email notification settings. the option is grayed out when i go to settings -> dadta manager -> data delivery -> email and corporate sync is grayed out.

for the gmail update interval, i de-sync'ed and set it to manual sync. see if this helps.

i have OTA froyo with Blurred rubix with the 928black theme, the only problem that occasionally is the data dropping randomly.. also every so often the phone will lag down quite a bit without a reason.. i have to reboot and after that its alright. This lag happens probably about twice a week.. other than that my good voice and search stuff is fine, i did the blurcamera fix as well. I am almost tempted to try another ROM, Blurred effects give me a slow feel :p

Anyone else running RubiX Focused 0.5 have Google calendar issues? My Google Calendar won't sync, hence Jorte calendar which was syncing with Google Calendar isn't working. :(

I'm running the Gala X 1.6.1 theme as well, but didn't have any calendar issues when running it over the OTA 2.2

I have not had a problem with my google calendar sync issues. Mine seems to be working just fine.
