Just thought i would start a thread dedicated to the new Advent Tablet that's getting released mid October.

i know its been mentioned in other posts, but as this should be able to be picked up by regular joes (well, UK folk anyway) in 1 week, i thought it deserved its own place.

as soon as its available in Dixons (poor mans best buy) i will get down there and if they have it on display i will have a play around with the interface, in particular smoothness and report back.

unless this feels like a dog, then i think this may well be the tablet that i am looking for.

did mean to post about this, as promised did go into pcworld and had a chat with a couple of the sales team, they had no idea it was coming out, anyway ended with 6-7 of them looking at the link that was posted on this forum last week

one of them has my number so going to ring me when they come in for a test session

specs looked good for the money, think it really comes down to interface/ screen

for us uk guys it could be a archos beater

just noticed on the specs, says 3g sim slot

wonder if vodafone would give me a second sim, save tethering to the desire,

2 sims on one account, has anyone been down that route

I'm really excited for this to come out, the specs look great and on one of the preview videos it looked responsive and quick.

It says the price is 249 euro, and I did a quick currency conversion on google and it says there that it would be $350 US, so why does everywhere say $400 US?

Might get market based on gingerbread rumors, but I am sure that a hack could be used to put market on there. They have appslib on the device, wonder if a similar hack to market4archos could be done.

Nice to see a tablet finally coming out!

found this when i googled the vega, nothing really new except they have found it listed on dixons site (dead link at the moment) and a member of dixons staff has promised updates ie when stock hits the warehouse etc

jamesdax, did read somewhere it will be branded shuttle in the states, same spec but different outercase but dont think that is comfirmed

mid november i have read maybe 18th and on the you tube video he does say firmware update past jan .....

It would appear that PCWorld have removed the advert on their website which i must say is a bit concerning although Dixons are still advertising it as "Coming Soon" which is the only bit of hope that iam holding on to because i need two of these for my girls for Christmas other wise its back tot he drawing board.

i cant take any credit just watching the uk based android forums and being a pain in the arse to all the staff at derbys pcworld....the one next to morros

will take a picture tomorrow of the promo leaflet, picked mine up from derby store, they were next to the samsung tab stand

the folio seems to be rushed and badly flawed, archos seems lacking in simple power, vega just might be the b@stard child of the 2

From the few reviews I have found on the Folio i tend to agree with you. Iam only hoping its not the same with the Vega.

The Archos (now advertised on Dixons website) was my original thought before i came across the Vega and becuase of the Vega specs does not seem to appeal to me in the same way as it did before.

I will nip it to Pc World Derby this week becuase iam not far away to see if they know anymore.

Just for anyone that is interested it seems both Currys and PCWorld have started advertising the Vega again. Maybe we could be looking at a release date of the 18th. Fingers crossed.
