Help Wifi Issues with your Evo?

A few days ago I tried to connect to wifi at my girlfriends house and after having been able to since I got my evo on launch day ive never had a problem but all of a sudden the phone says scanning then connecting then disconnected and scanning some more and never connects to the wifi and keeps me stuck on 3g. When I go home my wifi works flawlessly I just dont understand it. The password on it is a simple WEP and I know the password and her dad connected to it just fine but I cant. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

same thing has been happening to me...i can access all other wi-fi but my own...my 360 has the wifi hook up and works jus fine...hmmm

I hope we dont have to do a hard reset in order to fix it. Has anyone tried it yet?

Sounds like we may have something here. I tried to connect via wifi at the bar of a hotel that I recently stayed out that had an open network as well as a Bar Louie restaurant that offered free access. Never got to the point where it would say obtaining address. My wifi notifier was going off about open networks, but I could never connect.

Same problem for me. I was gone on vacation for a week and now i can no longer connect to my wifi which never gave me a problem in the past. It no longer will connect. Just sits in connecting while 2 other computers connect fine.

I get the same thing here....it constantly loops from obtaining ip address to disconnected to scanning etc...laptop and 360 work but my evo doesnt...wifes hero wont connect either...

I cant seem to figure it out. I still have the problem as well and so does my girlfriend with her Droid X. I guess I'm going to have to get on the phone with stupid tech department at Sprint and maybe they can figure it out.

ive contacted good and evo when i hear somthin ill post back here. i went to local sprint stor and the took out battery and put back in, it connected to their network so they sed its fixed!...still wont connect at home

No issues here. Connects at home ...and sitting at the hospitol now and was able to connext with no issues. Good and evo is a great site. Maybe she can get to the bottom of it. Re you all stock or rooted?

Stock froyo...my wife hero is doing it too...maybe an htc wifi flaw... my laptop...360 and a friends iphone connect just fine

Im on rooted 2.2 with Clockwork Rom and KingxKernal BFS #9. Hopefully Good and Evo can get to the bottom of it. I figure going into the sprint store would be useless because every single time I go in there I know more about the phones than they ever do so its waste of time.

I had this problem before, too. It started right after one of the OTA updates (I think it was the 2.2 update). In any case, how old are the access points/wireless routers that you guys are using? Mine was at least 4 years old, so I just bought a new one. I'm wondering if enabling 802.11n caused some older wifi access points to stop working correctly. One thing you can try is assigning a static IP address, then trying to connect. I've heard that works sometimes (thought it never worked for me).

im using an att.uverse all in one cable box router thingy...less than a year old...and i havent heard anything back from g&e yet...

Turns out my issue was uverse...they reset the router remotely and its fixed now...att sed it was from interference...allegedly...and i never heard back from g and e

The problem I am having with wifi is the phone does not like to stay connected to it. It will stay connected to it at home no problem if something is using it-say an app like TuneIn Radio is streaming. As soon as you stop that, and the phone just sits for awhile, many times the network will show 3G again the next time you fire up the screen. The only way to get it back to wifi is to turn the wifi off and then on again through the widget.

Not really a big deal I guess-better then it never connecting by wifi at all, but still not as seamless as it was with my old Pre. I've tried a couple of different routers, both over 4 years old, with the same results.
