vibrant or g2

iv had the vibrant for the past 2 months or so, but i have always experienced problems with it, i currently am having my 3rd vibrant being sent to me from warranty exchange because of defective device... and i realize that after already having 3 warranty exchanges you can change a device being sent to you to a phone of equal value... and i was thinking of getting this phone..

i planned on going to the tmo store to check it out first but i figured id come here first before i waste my gas

any known problems with the G2? such as the gps with vibrant?

does it slide easy? unlike the mytouch slide?

lag?

customability?

any other problems?

plus sides of it?

and overall, is it better then the vibrant? (other then the memory)

Dude, if I were you I would switch to the g2. HTCs reputation with supporting phones is much better that Samsungs. Samsung still is leading us on with a GPS fix (first it was a firmware update, then when that didnt work, they say itll be fixed in Froyo. I am running the leaked Froyo on my Captivate and it still is broken.). The proprietary bluetooth thing is annoying, I have been trying for months to find a bluetooth keyboard that will work with this thing. The stone age file system they are using is crippling the speed and power potential of the hardware.

In fact the reason I am looking and following this forum is because I am very temped to get a G2 and unlock if for AT&T because I am so frustrated with the Captivate and fed up with Samsungs BS.

Sold my Vibrant this week and ordered a G2 it gets here today. I hated my vibrant, the gps issue bugged the crap out of me, the phone would shut down on its own, the system was laggy for me and i just over all did not like the os. I am extremely excited to get back on the vanilla android system.

Went through two Vibrants sold the the last one for my g2. Best cell phone decision I ever made.

It depends on what your interests are.

If you're more of a multimedia guy (you play lots of games and watch movies) you might stick with the Vibrant.

If you're more of a business user like myself, you'll prefer the G2 with it's great keyboard, build quality, and stock android. The phone is butter smooth at 800Mhz, and is outrageously fast at 1.42Ghz.

You are not going to get 3G on AT&T with G2 though.

Its not the same but Canadian Bell is getting Desire Z, and that model has the right band for AT&T, which may work out better for you. But it comes with Sense UI...

I knew the G2 woldnt be able to do 3g on AT&T and that isnt a big concern to me since I am on Wifi just about everywhere I go and I dont use mobile data that much at all. But ill look into the desireZ

i have both.. well wife has g2 i have the vibrant. i just like that the vibrant is slim and lightweight compared to the g2 which is a heavy phone IMO.. but my vibrant is rooted, lag fixed and overclocked to 1.2, the g2 is rooted and overclocked to 1.4.. my vibrant still gives a higher benchmark score and faster internet speeds .. and im running 2.1 and 3g.. were as g2 is 4g and 2.2 .. and the screen on the vibrant is larger and just better IMO.. im not knocking the G2 in anyway its a nice phone but... id choose the vibrant over the G2

I'm now kinda in the same situation, unfortunately. I am getting my 2nd Vibrant warranty replacement sent to me. I looove my Vibrant when it's working correctly. However, both of the phones I've received have had glitches that I can't just ignore. I'm hoping this replacement will be perfect, but if not I guess it's time to start weighing my options...and at this point I'm guessing the G2 will be the only other option for me. I highly doubt they'd hook me up with a MyTouch 4G lol. So, time to start studying up on the G2 just in case.
