IMO it's still much too expensive. Somebody needs to convince Sammy that their pricing is much too high.

So if I understand what you are saying, it has more features than an equivalent over-priced Apple iPod Touch (on steroids). Therefore it should be priced similarly.

The Tab should have been priced at $499 for the 3G version and $399 for wifi only version... I think it's $100 overpriced...

As to your claim, yes and no...

Google has made it clear that 2.2 is not intended for tablets and should not be run on tablets....

The App Store has thousands of apps made just for the iPad whereas the Android Market has ZERO apps made specifically for Tablets...

More features? Yes but are they important? Not to me they are not... I for one can't see me taking photos with it and I have NEVER used video chat and probably never will...

9 out of 10 people will see them side by side and buy the iPad.... The one techno geek will snarf up the Tab...

Samsung had a chance to hit one out of the park with this and all they did was foul tip the ball....

I agree with the point being made on the Tab's price, of course I'd rather pay a lot less

But by way of comparison check out some of the latest Smart Phones prices, SIM free.

Galaxy S with only 8Mb $590
HTC Desire $550
HTC EVO 4 $500
iPhone 4 $799

Tab has priced themselves out of market. Here is an example using the wifi only compared to same priced 16gb iPad:

1. iPad has 16gb of flash
2. Actual price of Tab after buying 16gb card is about $50 more
3. More apps with iPad
4. iPad's display is bigger and better looking.

The only thing the Tab has over iPad is Flash 10.1. If iPad ever accepts a Flash app, Samsung will be dead in the tablet market.

Considering the iPad 64gb is $700 and uses fast memory, a same level Tab would be $100 more, based on price of fast 32gb (two class 4 cards X $150). Even with price parity, the Apple eco system kills the Tab. Samsung should have differentiated more with price. $100 more, to be exact.

Yep,

Tab has priced themselves out of market compared to iPad. This is coming from an Apple hater (me), so is real bad.

To help keep this comparison on track, some of the incorrectly percieved details posted above have been corrected:-

Awesome comparison @Beerkan. Puts it nicely in perspective IMO. And personally, another good point is that with its smaller size the Galaxy Tab is much more easily handled and is much more portable.

stupid question #2742, does the wifi only tab HAVE to have a data plan - even if it's month to month? My ipad is only wifi, but I tether it via the DX?

The Galaxy Tab has a much more powerful processor and GPU plus 512MB of RAM which is a lot more than the other CHEAP Android tablets wannabe's.
