EVO availability for sprint employees and advantage club

If you want to buy EVO on craigslist/Ebay, that is fine... The people worried about investigations for SWAC/EWD should worry some, but not fully.... Here is what appears to be happening that is causing investigations....... Someone steals an EVO, they call in to do a ESN change on the actual person's account who it belongs too (usually because 95% of all thefts are family/friend who may actually know your PIN number cause they are with you all the time and over hear it) they then sell it on craigslist/EBAY cause the ESN is now clean and free and clear to move on because the ESN is no longer active after doing a swap, (given they sell it fast enough before the actual owner realizes its gone) you buy it and activate it on your account cause it goes through as it is not yet reported stolen. The actual account holder reports it stolen, Fraud gets involved, and if its on your account, your screwed and its investigated. Not to mention the other portion of investigations are Employees literally stealing them and going into accounts and remove the stolen flag or doing an ESN change themselves, then selling them (this is a very very small few involving employees comiting the act). And, People will scam you as the buyer as well. They will do an ESN change and sell their own EVO, then call in and report it stolen and act like, who the hell did an ESN change, I never authorized this... Of course most of these are thrown out as the scammer is usually caught quickly and its usually not the buyers fault. But during the investigation, your account is frozen and non-usable which can take months for the investigation to complete, paper wise, the con-artists are usually caught within weeks, but for paper procedures and documenting the entire fraud case can take months to complete. **whats funny is now that I posted this fact, no one will ever buy a phone from craigslist/ebay again after reading this. LOL-Sorry, just wanted to straighten out the facts from fiction.**

Wow Conspiracy Theory much?
While I am sure that this has happened (hopefully not by family members) more than once, I am also sure that it has happened with high end devices in the past, and will happen with high devices in the future.

I am sure that if there is any investigation going on, it is to ensure that the employee sponsors did not use their position to get themselves or the people on their plan phones that are not available to employees (Stealing them from stock, or holding them).

My research was going off of Sprints official stats involving 87% of their fraud cases they have investigated in the last 6 years, employee cases or customer cases. Example: An employee, lets say her name is Jessica, she mistakenly wrote down and account # and credit card # she had to deal with for multiple days- which is normal by employees to write things down. The mistake is out of the 5 days she was trying to resolve this customers problem, on the 4th day she took the sheet of paper home by mistake. She quickly threw it away as she knew she was against policy by taking home work of customer's private information. 2 months later the customer called in wanting to know why he credit card had been charged for new equipment. Fraud investigated and determined after interrogation the Boyfriend of Jessica went into the trash and ordered ordered multiple devices with the credit card number and shipped them to a relatives home, and of course Jessica never even knew this until the Investigation was over. Well, because of this she lost her job and he went to jail.... Other General info about the case, She did have 2 kids with the boyfriend and were together 5 years, he was generally a good man, but just lost his job and they were having problems meeting ends, his side of the story was he sold the phones to use the cash to buy groceries, and pay bills. Again she had no idea. (Note: this was an actual fraud case earlier this year, of course names are false. Yes again this is 87% of fraud cases with employees or customers)

Wait for HTC EVO 4G and Samsung Epic 4G is almost over

By Claudia Fiegel
11/01/2010

The day we’ve been waiting for is almost here—soon all Sprint employees and their Advantage Club customers can purchase their own award-winning HTC EVO 4G or Samsung Epic 4G.

Effective Nov. 2 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern time, employees and Advantage Club customers can place orders online for the hottest Sprint 3G/4G phones on the market!

It’s no secret that these phones have broken most Sprint sales records, with record-breaking consumer demand. As most employees have heard, the inventory levels for both of these phones were impacted by a global parts shortage over the summer. For both of these reasons, the decision was made to conserve inventory for our external customers.

The news wasn’t necessarily what any of us wanted to hear, but we sat tight and waited. To make up for the delay, Sprint has secured an instant $50 discount directly from HTC and Samsung for employees. Please bear in mind that only several thousand of each device will be eligible for this special price and will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis.

Employee Exclusive Pricing for Employee Wireless Discounts (EWD) only and while supplies last!

HTC EVO 4G: $149.99 (Instant price)
Samsung Epic 4G: $199.99 (Instant price)

These discounted prices will only be available through the online Employee Wireless Discounts (EWD) website accessed via i-Connect (simply click on “shop online” to get started). This special price won't be honored in the campus stores. Online EWD Pricing will revert to national pricing once inventory at the discounted rate has been exhausted.

The Overland Park and Reston campus stores will have inventory of both HTC EVO 4G and Samsung Epic 4G (available for purchase as of 8 a.m. on Nov. 2). However, employees will pay National Pricing if purchasing through a campus store.

Both Overland Park and Reston Campus store will have expanded hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays through the Monday, Nov. 8. Overland Park Campus has Saturday hours from 9 to 6 and both Campus locations are closed Sundays.
There will be no appointments at any of the three locations for the first three days of launch and sales will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Advantage Club pricing is National Pricing
HTC EVO 4G: $199.99 (After mail-in rebate)
Samsung Epic 4G: $249.99 (After mail-in rebate)

Additional charges for Advantage Club HTC EVO 4G and Samsung Epic 4G customers
Don’t forget that Advantage Club subscribers with HTC EVO 4G or Samsung Epic 4G will be required to be on a Wireless Advantage Premium rate plan, starting at $30 for 500 minutes as well as the $10/month Premium Data add-on (excluding taxes and surcharges).

For all you loyal BlackBerry users
Let’s face it, as cool as these 3G/4G devices are, some of us are addicted to our BlackBerrys. For those of you who can’t make the switch, Sprint has an exclusive offer for you too on Nov. 2.

The much-anticipated BlackBerry Style 9670 smartphone with a compact flip form factor offers cutting-edge features, including the new BlackBerry 6 user interface, a full easy-to-use QWERTY keyboard and 5 megapixel camera/camcorder with flash and Wi-Fi.

The BlackBerry Style also will launch on Nov. 2 to EWD and Advantage Club customers. There will be a limited number of the steel gray color available through the EWD online store at an employee exclusive price of $49.99. EWD price for the royal purple color will be an instant $99.99, while Advantage Club price for both colors will be $99.99 after rebates.

Some housekeeping matters

All employees are asked not to call Employee Care or Telesales to order devices—neither of these are a sales channel for employees.

Anyone interested in purchasing any new device at this time should make sure all of their EWD and Advantage Club accounts are paid current and that they are in fact eligible for an upgrade.

To get all the current information on your accounts, click here to generate an Employee Account Summary Report.

Reminder: To avoid delays after ordering your devices, non-hourly employees wanting to use corporate email on their HTC EVO 4G/Samsung Epic 4G/BlackBerry Style who haven't been on Activesync or BES servers within the last 30 days will need to open the appropriate Clickit Ticket to be set up or have password reset.

Employee Care/Tech Support can't set up or password reset for Activesync/BES. Please use this CLICKIT Ticket link to request access to Activesync (EVO/EPIC) or BES (Blackberry).
If you’re buying an HTC EVO 4G or Samsung Epic 4G, enter ‘ActiveSync’ as Remote Access Application with ‘New Account Request’ as the Request Type.
If you’re buying a Style, enter ‘Blackberry’ as Remote Access Application with ‘New Account Request’ as the Request Type.
All employees and Advantage Club customers are thanked for exercising patience and understanding over the last several months—it hasn’t been easy. But now that we have inventory earmarked for employees and Advantage Club customers—we say to you, “Happy shopping!

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who posted info about the release of EVO! This is really the only site that I could find any type of updates.

But does anyone know if the evo on the Sprint Wireless Advantage Club will end up costing 40 dollars a month? 30 for the premium and 10 for the data? If so that makes me a little mad... Because originally (back when they released it, which seems like decades ago) they told me it would end up being 30 (20 for normal phone bill plus 10 for the data). So it just kind of sucks that I had to wait 5 months and still have to pay more...

But then again I have an instinct... So they just switched me to the 30 dollar plan and like most of you know... That phone falls short in a lot of areas and the EVO will without doubt be worth the extra 10 a month!

Anyways thanks everyone again for the updates! Hopefully their won't be a shortage for the next few days!

GREAT NEWS!

I thought the premium included the 10 bucks but i guess this says its the premium price(30 bucks) plus the extra 10 bucks for the evo. Kinda a bummer but i know i'm still saving money

Yea I know what you mean... But we are still saving a ton of money so I can't complain! I hoping they will have them in stock at the campus so I can head down during lunch tomorrow, even though it will probably take a few hours to get there and back...

How can I find out which plan I have? When I log into Sprint's site and look at my plan it tells me that I have the "Fair and Flex 500" plan; is that SWAC, Employee Advantage, EWD or something else? I am not a Sprint employee, my stepmom is my sponsor. I pay $20/mo for 500 anytime minutes, unlimited text/internet.

Thanks for the info^^ how long will it take to get phones once ordered off i-Connect?

When I've ordered phones from Sprint via its online channels, e.g., i-Connect, I've always received my device within two or three days. Since demand for the Epic and EVO has been so great, I'm not sure whether this past history guarantees quick delivery of these new 4G devices. Hopefully, Sprint has stockpiled these devices so as to be able to meet all employee and SWAC demand.

After all this wait, seems like we end up paying 20$ more, while other customers are paying only 10$ more for getting a 4g phone with NO service in our area. I am not sure if I really want to pay this much more, for getting nothing but a phone. 4g is not available fully in our area, so y do we have to pay for it. I dont understand.

And sprint shud stop classifying their customers on everything. They said 50$ for people who can buy thru i-connect, but not at corporate store...Doesn't make any sense.

I am not sure how you are doing your math Rkster90. Customers for example for 450 min, paid $69.99 and when they bought an EVO went to $79.99. As Swac you pay $20 or $30 if you had an Iconic device its $30 (Hero, Moment, Palm Pre, Pixi, BB, EVO,Epic). So it goes to $40, customers still paying $79.99, that is essentially $40 more? If you would like to provide your account # to me, I would be willing to change you over to a regular account and then you can have a legit reason to complain, which is cheaper than ATT/Verizon, so complaining then still is not fully legit. Also the Additional $10 is not for 4G, its for the Capabilities of the device that no other device can do. It is built for heavy, heavy data users, I personally use about 35gb a month on my phone for data use, Once I get my EVO, I will be able to push out at least 50 gb a month.

We currently pay only 20$ for Hero/Pre...So for eVO it will be +10$ Premium + 10$ 4g =40$...Right
Am I missing something here.
