So far, I have had pretty good results with CM6.1-RC1. I HATE ADW, so refuse to use it and that is the only downside. I stick with Launcher Pro. There are plenty that have reported issues, but all I can say to those people...

It's worth wiping when you update a major release... 6.0.x Nightly > 6.1-RC1 is major enough to warrant a wipe, even if it is not required...

My setup is with the 6.1-RC1 ROM, Latest Google Apps and Dark Tremor's latest App2ext scripts.

Even though Cyanogen tweeted that these "hacked up scripts" are not the way to go, he, and his development team, have pony'd up a better (or ANY) solution, so this comment has jaded me to his team, however, I cannot dispute the quality of the release. I just won't support them with any more donations. This is the Elitist attitudes that come from letting success and popularity to go to their heads.

Eventually, someone is going to come up with something that will give them a reality check.

Tried MIUI, worked GREAT!! Until I rebooted my phone and it would never come back after a reboot. No matter what I did...

I LOVED Cyanogen 6.1 until I realize that my 3G network wasn't working at all.

I tried everything possible to make it work without any success.

Then I tried to go on Cyanogen 6.0 but I couldn't download the ROM. So back with FROYO.

Try it again, there's updates out from China every Friday, there's a few new versions out over at XDA, I'm currently running the stock version.

Installed CyanogenMod 6.1 at the weekend and can only describe it as like FroYo on steroids.

I've never never attempted anything like this before but following Talderon's instructions here:-

I was quite suprised at how easy it was.

It's like having a completely different phone and has corrected some problems I was experiencing. Not least of which, was my phones inability to send any MMS's when connected to WiFi (not via WiFi but HSDPA).

No crashes or freezes experienced to-date, although I took Talderon's advice and restored everything manually.

My advice for anyone considering CyanogenMod 6.1 is... go for it!

Glad things went well!!!

Wiping and manual installs, however long and boring it may be, is the safest way to go. This way, the ROM manages the way it was designed and not being forced to do it another way that may bring instabilities into it.

I rarely update without a wipe, and those times that I have, I ended up wiping to take care of issues few others were having (because they flashed with no wipe). Just good practice.

Coming from a Symbian phone background, Nokia N80, N80IE, N95, N95 8GB, N97, I was always a powerful advocate of wiping and NOT restoring from back-up's after a firmware upgrade,

As you quite rightly say, it just leads to all sorts of problems... both major and minor.

All the hate of ADW

I don't understand it; i mean I understand the preference of LP Pro or another home replacement, but ADW is very good. Not to mention the ADW Notifier app that just came out that can provide message counts on even regularly added e-mail icons.

On to the topic, yes 6.1 has been good so far the FM radio from the MIUoI team is neat although I won't ever use it; overall stability has been solid and there are some more options for cyanogen in the settings that are interesting.

I think my distaste for ADW is that it's so bloated and the code is not optimized to where if you use most/all of the features, it lags... bad...

With LP, even when using everything it has included, no lag at all. I have heard of issues some have with LP and CM because CM is "optimized" around ADW, but I have not had any of those issues and it works great for me.

I agree, CM6.1 has been great, stable and fantastic. I had one lag issue when using Navigation and then trying to check emails. Have not had it since.

Agree, I thought the FM radio would be awesome, but then I listen to the radio... or should I say Commercial Broadcasting Systems... and remember why I stopped listening to it.

Hate to say it, but I am done with TeamDouche (Cyanogen Mod) ROM's. No support or care for the community, They are spread so thin that they take MONTHS to do anything.

I installed CM 6.1-RC1 and all was working really well. Then, it just stopped working. ALL Aps FC... ALL... The phone won't accept called (when someone calls, it just FC's the phone app) and they just won't offer support. They just tell you to wait until next release.

I wiped and re-flashed and it was worse... I'm done with them. Back to a stock ROM for me.

Too many things about the MIUI that I don't like, so am just going to stick with stock.

Why don't you drop back to CM6 Stable? I personally haven't had any problems with either version and 6.1 is running great on my phone. Granted if I was having problems with it I'd likely drop back to 6.0. There really isn't anything in 6.1 that I needed, sure the Youtube app is a lot nicer but I didn't really need it.

I did try 6.0 and it's just not as nice and something that I would like to run. That's why I never got into 6.0.

I'm back to my Stock ROM and it's rock solid and nice now.

Now, I admit, I may have an SD Card issue, but another is on the way and I will try that one.

Which Stock ROM did you use Talderon?
I guess you haven't renounced on Root!
I'm curious which Rooted FRG83 you've chosen...
I've only found a couple on the web and didn't know which to try.

Of all of the "Stock" ROM's out there, Geo's ROM has always been the most stable:

[ROM] FRG83 Stock, Deodexed, rooted, busybox, battery %, TB alert/wake 11/4/10 - xda-developers

Very Stock, but has some tweaks that give features people want, but does not sacrifice stock options and stability.

I've never rooted... until now. CM6.1 is the best thing to ever happen to my Nexus. I was stupid enough to think it was running slow for a minute until I read a post about speeding up the animation of the app drawer.

My phone has never been snappier.

I normally hate launchers that are not the stock launcher. But I am getting used to ADW, the only thing I really like is that the home screens will change orientation. Aside from that I miss the old phone and internet icons and the cheesy 3D app drawer

To tell ya the truth, from what I read telling you your phone is defective is spot on as you have a bad SD card. I don't see what was so "elitist" about that.
Give 6.1RC a try with your new card. I think you'll find it works pretty good. I haven't had any issues. My setup is a 16gb card with 3 partitions.

Well, all suspicious aside now, the SD Card was not bad. The phone was not bad. Nothing. I tried again and again with new and used SD Cards and had same errors and results. ANY Stock ROM works great, even when I reverted back to complete stock and no root. EVERY time I put Cyanogen or anything related to Cyanogen on my phone, I get nothing but issues.

I have tried and tried. I am sticking with Stock ROM's.

Although, I now have a MyTouch 4G and a Windows Phone 7 to play with as well. I'll have enough going on to keep me busy...

FYI, so far, Windows Phone 7 is ok, but not enough to pull me from Android.
