Accessories Steinheil Ultra Crystal Clear Question

Hello, I recently purchased a Steinheil Ultra Crystal Clear protector for my Droid X on eBay and something doesn't seem right. There are supposed to be 2 surface protective films for each film, right? Mine only had a film protecting the Adhesive side, but not for the surface. Everywhere I read, including the instructions, says that there should be 2 films to be removed during installation.

This only bothers me because I read that the Steinheil protector was supposed to be the best and is smooth, but mine is not smooth at all. The verizon one was easier to scroll with. This is the other protector that came with it, its just like the one I put on my Droid:

I ordered mine directly from Steiheil and got the same thing you did. All the packaging and instructions showed there being two layers to be removed but there was only one. I actually ruined one of the two protectors trying to peel off the second layer that didn't exist. It's upsetting because I had just purchased the same protector 2 months ago and it did have the two layers.

One thing about the smoothness....it seemed kind of sticky until I used some screen cleaner on it.now it has the nice glassy finish.

I ordered mine direct and it had to tabs one yellow and one pale green (or blue).

Ofset on either side. The yellow covered the back that was supposed to be the adhesive

The green was the outer covers to protect it when you ran the plastic scrapper over it.

BTW, once installed there is about a 1 week period where the protector is stickier than the screen used to be. It goes away, however when you find it doesn't glide, clean it.

All in all kicks azz

I already posted a topic, and then i found this one.

This is from my topic.

So today i got my Ultra Clear for my droid X.

On the back of the box it shows that the film has TWO tabs. Mine only has one. I applied the first one, and thought "well online in the videos people peeled away a top layer so I guess I'll try" so I attempted to do that with tape, and failed and ended up getting the bottom marked up so I wasted that one.

I applied the Second film, only one tab. I applied it, used the squeegee, and now the film (part that you touch to use the phone) has marks on it....IS there a layer that peels off? The box shows that it does, mine doesn't peel anymore.

I ordered from them directly!

Yes there are 2 layers of covering. One on the back for the adhesive, one on the front to protect the protector (sounds odd I know) from the squeege and scratching while applying. Try this: With a xacto knife or toothpick (something very pointed). On an edge of the screen, come across the corner trying to pick the film off the screen, Then curl it at a sharp angle (like folded against itself) and see if the 2 parts seperate.

Sounds like you got a defective batch, mine both had 2 tabs on them to assist in seperating.

DO NOT try to peel anything away!

Thank you for contacting SGPstore.com Customer Service Department.

I understand your concern.

We have changed our screen protectors to have only ONE protective layer for the adhesive side of the film. You probably noticed that the film only had one green tab attached. This means that there is only one layer covering the adhesive side. There is no additional layer to peel off after installing the film.

They are sending me a replacement since I messed up the first one. Very NICE customer service!

With the phone having Gorilla glass, wouldn't anything edgy enough to actually scratch the glass be enough to puncture the protective screen and still scratch the glass? I have a pack of these screen protectors, but I've yet to put one on.

From what I've heard sand can easily scratch even this gorilla glass but with a good quality screen protector you wont even need to worry about it!
