Root 4G connectivity issues?

I'm having problems connecting to 4G lately. Prior to Nov 1st I've been able to connect to 4G relatively quickly. Post Nov 1st I haven't been able to connect.

Has this been happening to anyone?

I'm running Myns TwoPointTwo with Kings #11 CFS.

this could be some issue in your area. which area are you in? have you been using that set up pre and post 11/1?

sprint will occasionally do maintenance there have been areas that have had issues for 4-7 days.

thieves have also been stealing wiring from tires affecting signal output

there is also this thread about improving the time it takes to get a connection

I doubt if it's anything to do with your phone. More likely, Sprint/Clear is tinkering with their 4G network. You can try to get an answer from Sprint... Good Luck! You will be better off insisting that Sprint put you in touch with a representative from Clear.

My limited contact with Clear has been very positive and informative. They will tell you in real time the status of their 4G network. If your 4G is running at 50% normal speed, the representative from Clear may well tell you that their 4G network is running at 140% of capacity. I also learned from a rep at Clear that their 4G network undergoes major updating/upgrading for several days each month, generally at the same time I would be trying to stream Netflix... in the wee hours.

Bottom line is Sprint will not give you a straight answer to a network question because they simply do not know the answer. They may make up an answer. I've heard some pretty tall tales from rookie reps at Sprint. I've been told that I do not have 4G coverage (I pull -65dBm on Wimax). I've been told that my second floor deck is in the fringe; that the 60 foot Oak in my front yard has too many leaves and must be blowing into the path of the 4G signal, and that I should move into the center of my building for the best possible coverage.

Sprint... great phone, great plans, great network, great pricing. But their technical support team should stick to setting up e-mail accounts and minor trouble shooting, and leave the questions to those who know the answers.

This didn't start as a rant.

Im NYC, the 4G towers were launched this Monday. Before though, I've been able to get connect to 4G, but for the past 2 days I've not been able to connect.

i might start with contacting sprint on this one. I understand 4g has been available for a while in NY but only made official Monday. It definitely could be a tower issue

I called Sprint was told to jump through hoops. The tech support said she'd submit a ticket for it to be looked in to and that I'd get a call back within the hour; That was 3 hours ago. Everyone else I know that has an Evo is able to connect to 4g(the farthest individual lives 6 miles from me).

In the mean time, you should update your PRL and your profile. After that, do a 15" battery pull and cross your fingers.

Have you checked your Wimax signal strength?

Go to phone, enter ##33284#
Go to WIMAX Engineering
Look at Rx Pwr.

In case your not familiar with this, -75 dBm is a stronger signal than -80 dBm.

Rx Pwr = N/A dBm.

:S I've flashed back to stock and have been updating PRL and my Profile but nothing. I'll try the battery pull and see what happens.

The N/A dBm is all I need to see. That's good news for your phone. There is no 4G signal for it to receive. That means a tower / network outage is the cause of your grief. Let's hope it is short lived!

I am also having 4g connection problems mine constantly says scanning. When I goto ##33284# and go to WIMAX Engineering everything reads not ready.

That's exactly the same reading I get when Clear has the towers down for maintenance, usually between 1:00 A.M. and 4:00 A.M. When the towers come back on line, all is back to normal. No reboot is needed.

To goodboy,
Sorry to hear that your Evo can't pull in the same 4G signal that your friend's Evo can. That's pretty compelling evidence that the problem lies in your handset. Do you have the latest radios? Give this link from XDA a look-see. But it sounds like you will be paying a visit to Sprint.

Speak of the devil...

My 4G just went out. Netflix will have to wait for another day.
