Root D1-MIUI for your Droid (formerly Zen-MIUI)

It's easy enough to add ringtones / notification sounds, just pull them from the ROM of your choice. It's true that this ROM is lacking in the ringtones department, but that was done intentionally to save space. I added all of the extra ones I wanted into the .zip before I flashed it to simplify things.

No widgets? What do you mean no widgets? Long press home screen to go into editing mode and you can add whatever widgets you like.

how do you open up the zip and remove things and still have the zip able to be installed? can you just use winzip or winrar or do you need something else?

I use 7-Zip but I think you can use any of the above.

The key is to open the zip WITHOUT unzipping it. Then simply add or remove things to suit your preferences.

You can get really technical by editing the updater_script file in META-INF, which I just started getting into over the last month.

It's hard to promote this ROM when such buggy versions are being pushed. I wish the guys would bring in a few alpha testers before they sent out these updates (which are all beta ROMs as is).

I'm not going to flash v6.2 for a few hours after it comes out (momentarily) until I see what bugs others are reporting. I couldn't even use v5.1 because whenever I would change the desktop wallpaper it would reset itself every time I rebooted, so I'm back on v5.

For the record, EVERY single release done by MetiCkOne has been unusable for me, where as every single release done by Zenulator has been perfect. This is just an observation, but in my case it's been true every time. I feel bad pointing it out since MetiCkOne works so hard for Team Miui, but I can never seem to use his versions.

I have to agree. I like the idea, the look, and the difference in this ROM. I have thought about loading it many times, but if they are releasing fixes everyday I think I will wait until version 10 or 11 is released. Alpha testers would be a great idea. Limit your releases to every 2-4 weeks so that enough fixes can be incorporated. I am not, and will not bash this ROM because the folks working on it are really taking the Android UI in a different direction, which at worst will make other devs think outside of the box. I do have an issue with their version control. It's great that they are willing to fix every bug immediately, but some care needs to be taken so that the general rooting community doesn't label this ROM as buggy because of all of the releases.

I am running this ROM in version 6.3. It is completely different from any android os I am used to. I use syncmypix to sync my Facebook pictures.

I am very impressed with this ROM and the battery life. The very few bugs that exist are not enough to keep me from enjoying all the other novel ideas presented in this ROM.

Someone commented earlier in this thread about the phones polling for service in no service areas killing the battery. I use Airplane Mode when going on motorcycle trips. This keeps the phone from running the battery dead when you are not/or can not use the phone.

I'm running this ROM v6.3. i used slayer's 1.25gHz kernal and am having no problems. I use swype regularly. and have all of the advantages of the programs that i have normally used. i have recorded my highest benchmarks (1425).
I have used simply stunning and BB and this is an intriguing ROM. the continual version release leaves it exciting of what is to come. they have a bug reporting system, so every time there is a bug someone on their team is working on it. the new version has the fix so hopefully it solves others problems.
with a completely new OS like MIUI there is no "gold standard" or precedent. they are doing great things with this ROM where most ROM on available are tweaks that encourage you to use a different launcher than the one with the ROM. this ROM shows a whole new...everything...

I like this ROM, but I'm still getting used to it. I finally got all my apps rearranged in alphabetical order and sorted it all the way I liked it. I wish there was a way to do this automatically.

I had issues with this rom being slow, so i reflashed it on top of itself w/o wiping and it seems to work now. Maybe Titanium messed something up...

A new version should be posted very shortly. The Miui team in China releases weekly versions of this ROM every Friday, which Team D1 Miui ports to the Droid as soon as things are translated by the folks at XDA.

It might be wise to wait a day or two and check the Team D1 Miui forum @ Droid Forums to make sure there aren't any major issues before flashing.
