Interesting battery comment

I got my Incredible the week it came out. Last week I started having all sorts of problems and had to reformat the phone several times. Anytime I installed or tried to use an app the phone would crash.

They sent me a new one. I put my extended battery in, let it go until it died, then turned the phone off and charged over night. I used the battery, if I remember right, around 60 hours. It definitely got me through 2 full days. This was with my normal use. I don't use it as a phone a whole lot. A call every day or two. Mostly texts, brief internet and some apps.

My last phone, the same battery would get me through the day but need recharged over night or I'd be needing to throw it on the following afternoon.

So I try my standard battery. Let it drain out, charge it over night, typical use again.

It's currently at up time of 33.5 hours and awake time of 1:40:00 with 30% battery left. Again, first phone, that battery would need bumped up a couple of times a day on the charger.

Granted when I first got the phone I was obsessed with playing with it, but getting almost 24 hours more between two phones (original and the replacement) using the same battery is odd.

It's a hardware 2, just like my last phone. Everything seems to match up spec/number wise in About Phone.

I know there are a ton of battery threads, but I didn't know where to put this.

My first phone had similar results to yours. It suddenly started randomly restarting, and I had to have it replaced. My new phone will drop battery like no tomorrow though. On my first phone, I could go an hour and only lose maybe 3 or 4 percent of battery. Currently my new phone can drop 15 percent in an hour. I havent found anything in system panel that is constantly running, and my awake time unusually high. Kinda sucks to go from good to bad like that. You are luckier than I am.

i would expect that kind of battery life for someone who doesnt touch the phone all day like you. i agree something must have not been right with the first phone with that type of usage

x2.. today my phone up time is only 4 hours and already has 40mins of awake time with 10 mins of phone talk time. Battery is down to 85%. And I consider myself a light user (occational texts, emails, pandora... no constant gaming or youtube) Here is my device info. (unrooted factory software)

GPS: On but not active (i.e. apps only use it on demand)
WiFi: Off
3G: On and active occationally (pandora, emails)
Auto Bright: Off (set to around 20%, I think the SLCD looks better at that brightness anyway)
Auto Rotate: On

Fully charged extended battery (the one verizon sells, can't remember how big it is) to start the day.

Up time 7 hours
Awake time about 35 minutes

Received and sent about 30 texts so far.
Checked my mail like 10 times.
That's really about it...battery is at 97% still.

The big test will be in a couple of weeks when all my friends meet up for a weekend of hockey games. Will be more phone calls and texts going on with everyone trying to organize stuff and meet ups and what not.

lmao wow

my uptime is about 7.5 hours and my awake time is like 4 hours....use your phone more please!

I added some more texts and a 10-15 minute phone call.
Up Time 8 hours and 15 minutes
Awake time 40 minutes
91%

Fact of the matter is, it's about what I used on my last phone and my battery would be half dead already from just sitting around.

New Incredibles are being shipped with SLCD screens. This is not to say that is related to your battery problem, but it could be part of the reason the 2 phones are not consuming battery the same.

This only applies if you happen to have an SLCD screen. Not exactly sure how you can find out, but I'm sure it's on this forum somewhere.

right i understand, your phone just feels neglected....you need to load angry birds and use pandora more or something ;)

I'm scared to get angry birds again. That was a main problem with my last phone. I'd play it and after a round or two it'd reboot my phone and then keep rebooting until I reformatted.

Everything is working so good now I don't want to risk it.

As I've said earlier, the phone consumes very little battery in sleep mode unless you have apps sync every hour or so. The days when I get a complete charge before going to bed, I'd unplug and 8 hours later in the morning I'd only be down to about 98%. I have weather and hotmail auto sync every 4 hours, and facebook for sense auto sync only once a day. News is set to sync on demand only.

That said, 9% battery drop for 40 mins of awake time is actually pretty impressive.

I think he's using the vzw extended battery.

Posts like this just kill me. Granted, I'm a very heavy user, but I'm doing good to get 6 hours (7 tops) out of my phone. I'm usually forced to charge mid-day. Release day phone, stock battery, Skyraider 3.3.2.

I don't know what you expect from it then. No phone can be used heavily for more than about 7 hours. Incredible only rated for about 5 hours talk time, pretty standard on most phones.

We all wish there's a slim battery that only needs to be charged once a week, but the technology just isnt there yet... at least not cheap enough to mass produce. I don't think you are going to find better battery life with heavy usage on any other phones.

I did notice a significant battery life improvement after turning off auto-brightness and leaving it around 20% though.
