Help EVO Lost 3G Again

UPDATE:

So it turns out, that at some point after sending an email this morning (on 3G) the phone decided to turn off the data network. Don't ask me why (I didn't do it, manually). I turned it back on and all is fine. Sheesh... glad it's easy, but anyone else see this rude behavior? I have a 90%+ charged battery so it's not a low power thing...

--------------

For the second time in a month, my EVO has decided to stop working with 3G. 4G works fine as does wifi, but 3G is dead. When this happened the last time, I spent an hour on the phone with Sprint doing all the usual things from resetting profiles to battery pulls to, eventually, factory resetting the phone (losing everything in the process).I'm not terribly excited about another factory reset, so anyone else have this problem and found another solution?

I have a stock, unrooted phone, here. Nothing fancy.

I know that 3G is "off" while 4G is on (actually, not really as if it can't find 4G it falls back to 3G, but...)

My issue is that I send an email just fine, then five minutes later notice that I cannot connect to the Internet and that the 3G is off. This is really ridiculous. There is no reason for this. And Sprint will lose millions on support calls if this is more widespread as most people won't think to check the data connection setting (I know I didn't for a long time). Oh wait, NOW I know what my $10/mo fee is for!

it sounds like you should take it into a service repair store

Hope they get u fixed up!

I doubt, but don't know for sure, that if you have 4G turned on and are in a 3G-only area that you can make a call and get 3G data at the same time. It's "real" 3G when no 4G is available and all the of the limitations are there. I just don't see how they have another 3G service that's capable of doing what the normal 3G is not.

Is there a switch in this forum for intelligence? Most people use their WiFi at home and not 3G. Why do you think Sprint offers unlimited plans? You can use WiFi for free just about every place you go.

If your 3G turns off more than likely Sprint is performing upgrades to their towers. Towers do have to go through maintenance! All that matters is that you can still call 911 if you need to make a call during that time frame.

Every once and awhile signals do drop off and I assume the EVO could possibly turn off 3G if it can't pick up a signal.
