Show Us Your X10 Homescreen...

also how do you get those cool looking icons?????? and that sportstap widget, is that only show your fav team when they are playing only or all games that night being played??

The Sports Tap widget has been fun for the few hours I've been playing with it. It let me pick several local teams as favorites but is only showing my hockey team on the widget.

I think if there were multiple favorite games in a day, the up & down arrows would navigate it but it'll be a few days before I can confirm that. You can open it to see scores of other games. I think it'll do fine for my limited sports needs.

A big collective thanks to everyone on this thread! I ordered the phone Wednesday, got it Friday & have it just about complete. Screenshots coming as soon as I get my photos hosted.

And without further ado....

I still need to do some organizing as I get more comfortable with the phone. About the only thing I'd still like to do is root the phone to clean out the AT&T junk.

Thanks to everyone in this thread, the HTC keyboard thread & pretty much all the X10 threads. You guys are making this easier than I thought it would be.

My phone is rooted, but not required. :)

1. The little Android guys holding up the apps are a theme for ADW.Launcher, the theme is called iDroid. iDroid was a free theme too.

2. The "Slide to unlock" is actually an app called Screen Suite. You can put any background you want, and put the iPhone unlock slider or change it with different Droid pics. *Note I'm using v1.2.4 and it is very buggy, got full version for free from a friend. The latest version is 2.2 I believe, so download the trial version first!

Yep gotta love the iDroid theme :D

I believe it was from the iDriod theme used by ADW Launcher. :D

You got one of the sports widgets right "SportsTap", the other is "ScoreMobile". As for the little Droid dudes holding the market logo, youtube screen, etc, its the Idroid theme. In order to use this theme you must have ADW.Launcher installed. Everything I just mentioned are also free. :)

Have fun customizing with ADW.Launcher, its a great substitute for us X10 users stuck on 1.6. Although, 2.1 is defeiently due soon, two versions of the upgrade have been certified (That link shows X10i, but X10a has the same info). Plus the amount of leaked detail now, here.

Very nice Mr Womble. I like the Birthdays app, where does it pick the info up from? Your google contacts / birthday calendar?

Just testing out an X8 for Sony Ericsson's forum and can't get HTC_IME keyboard to work, have you managed to get one on Mme Cholet's mini cos they are pretty similar?

Same trouble as me, the phone just didn't like it - which i have a theory on

Although the Mini/Mini Pro and X8 use 1.6 Donut similar to ourselves, they are more restricted by the software thats pre installed

A lot of apps and widgets i have on my BIG X10 are not found in the market by the others, nor are they able to be installed from memory card through appsaver

So in respect of the HTC keyboard, i believe it falls in the (1.6 but not X10 mini compatible) set of software

As for the birthday app, will do a seperate post for that

Ok ROSERED - here you go - 2 ways of editing - through contacts (described below) or through the widget

1:- Find the contact you want to add a birthday for and press EDIT
2:- The APP gives another option here to EDIT DATES - select that
3:- Now you can edit Birthday and Anniversary (exact years need to be entered for age/yrs of marriage etc)
4:- Enter date as normal
5:- Check the info is correct - usually formatted to american style - this is normal
6:- On the widget the info displays

So today ROSERED is 21 and her anniversary is tomorrow at 1 year

SIMPLES!!!

How lovely to be 21 again!!!! Double that and you might get closer;)

Right I'm away to download and set up. I will be back if I can't figure it out. Thanks for the instructions.

Got to love Android Market... couldn't find Ebo Birthday cos its EboBirthday. Stupid search function! Just synced it with my Google contacts so on to the next bit.

X10iuser

whats your weather widget above your calender??

that looks like the one i lost ;)
That's Palmary Weather.

What method would i use fro my 2.1 to take a picture of my screenshot?
You can either use the ShootMe me app which requires root, or you can set up the Android SDK and use your computer...

How to take screenshots on the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10

I'm gonna show you how to take screenshots on your Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10

Two separate pieces of software are required and must be installed on your PC:

  1. The Android software development kit (SDK)
  2. The Java SE software development kit (SDK)

Once your downloads are complete a few steps are required to get things ready.

On your computer:

  1. Extract the Google Android SDK to a folder on your desktop
  2. Install the the Java SE SDK

On the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10:

  1. Press Menu button and then tap Settings (figure 1)
  2. Tap on Applications
  3. Tap on Development
  4. Check the box for USB debugging

Now you are ready to get started.

110001.gif

  1. Plug your Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 into your computer via USB and Windows will attempt to install all of the appropriate drivers; one of the drivers will not be found and thus you must proceed to Device Manager in your Control Panel and find the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 (there will be a yellow icon next to it)
  2. Right-click on the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 entry and select properties; instruct Windows to update/install the driver for this device and when asked, simply browse to the usb_driver folder inside of the Android software development kit folder that you extracted to your desktop earlier -- the device is recognized and the driver is installed
  3. Browse to the Android SDK folder that you extracted to your desktop and run the SDK Setup.exe to start the program
  4. Once the application has launched you will be presented with a window as shown in figure 2 above
  5. Click on the Refresh button so that the application can update its list of operating system SDKs available from Google
  6. Check off the section next to the URL that is shown in the application (figure 2); you are now presented with a list of Android SDKs and Google APIs you wish to install
  7. It is recommended that you select select all available packages for maximum compatibility
  8. Once the files have been downloaded simply close the application
  9. Browse to the Tools folder inside the Android SDK folder you extracted to your desktop
  10. Double click on DDMS.BAT to execute the Dalvik Debug Monitor
  11. The application will launch with a DOS command window and eventually a Windows based application -- your phone will be listed on the left hand side, and you should click on it to make sure it is selected
  12. Click on the Device menu and select Screen Capture or use the CTRL-S key combo
  13. The capture now appears on your screen, but there is one final undocumented step
  14. We recommend that you click on the Copy button and paste the screenshot into your image editor of choice (Microsoft Paint, Adobe Photoshop, etc) -- the reason for this is that there is a known bug that does not carry over the colors of the actual screenshot inside the capture utility

Voila! You now have a stunning screenshot from the display on your Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10. Repeat steps 12-14 to generate more screenshots.

Ok, there is the guide to take screenshots of your phone on a Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 that isn't rooted. Enjoy.
