For some reason my x10's unlock screen bar just flipped side.

I am right handed so it was easy for me to just slide the unlock button to the upper right when I unlock the screen, but now the slide bar has flipped side, instead of sliding the sliding bar to the upper right corner I have to slide to the upper left with my thumb.

Does anybody know how to reposition the slider bar?

Also my x10 battery does not last very long, does anybody know of a tool where I can disable some programs that I don't need? It would be great if there are instructions too.

Thank you

Re: Slider -- Place your finger at the top of the slide-bar, and you'll be able to flip it left or right.

Re: Battery -- I think it's important to think of smartphones as computers instead of phones. A laptop may barely run 3 hours off of its battery for example (depending on the brand, the battery, etc).. and as such, I often wonder why it surprises people that smartphones don't have a huge battery life. They are small computers, running off relatively small batteries. I was impressed to get 4 or 5 hours out of it last night doing constant 'net surfing. I couldn't have asked much else out of it (I get more time out of it just callinging/texting and doing more casual surfing)

Install a program called Juice Defender -- I find it has helped me a bit since receiving my phone. I've done a fair bit of research into task killers and I'm not impressed by what I've read -- so I'm strictly using Juice Defender and staying away from task killer. But in the end, use what you find works best.

Go into your settings and find the Brightness settings, turn off Auto Brightness and lower the brightness down to minimum (it will still be plenty bright), this will help. TURN OFF WIFI, I can't stress this enough. I used Wifi for the first time the other day and the rate at which it was draining my battery was just scary. I stick to my 3g plan for 'net usage as a result, unless I have ready access to a charger. If your battery is draining rapidly (As in 2 hours and the whole thing is dead), wifi may be the culprit.

Charge the battery right up, and then drain it until it is entirely dead -- Then charge it back up again to full for a good LONG time. Rinse and repeat this process a few times over. It's been known to break in the battery and get it to its full potential. I don't know the science behind it, only that it seems to work.

There are other suggestions out there, you can search for them, I'm not sure of all the suggestions yet myself -- these are just what has helped me in the week since obtaining the phone.

Over all, I think the best thing you can do is lower your expectations. We're all used to phones lasting two or three days, but this isn't just an ordinary phone. It's a little computer. I think if people start thinking of the device as a computer more than a phone, we'll start adjusting our perception of battery life to fit.

What firmware are you running? I use Advanced Task Killer and wouldn't be without it, although there is a debate about wether they are needed or not, but for me personally I wouldn't be without it. To add to what's already been suggested, if you have any apps that sync, adjust the rate at which they do or turn it off completely, along with the data connection if you're not using it.

My phone was taken off a 6/7 hour charge this morning, I've texted talked and browsed with both wifi and 3G throughout the day and my battery is now sat at 63%.

I'd update to 026. Have you tried running SEUS or PC Companion?

I run PC Companion but it has never prompted me for any updates. I didn't know that was a part of its functionality? Hrm.. where exactly do I find that now...

Edit: I ran "support zone" and it claims I have the most up to date software. *shrugs*

I have no idea what SEUS is.

anyone else's X10 slide unlock freeze right at the top of the arc? you have to just tap it to get to the home screen. its like it doesnt slide allllll the way up. stop at like 95%, frustrating. i hate that arc slide

Yeah... it does it quite a lot lately on mine.... i just press the top button to reset the screen and it works fine...hopefully we won't have this issue anymore with 2.1

I've had the 2.1 slider stop when finished requiring an extra tap to get it to open.

I will say I miss the arc slider. I've found my phone on various screens in my pocket 3 times since 2.1 upgrade because it is too easy to slide it in a straight line.

Never had that happen with the arc slider. Would it be too hard to give us the option to pick which one we use, SE? Pretty please????
