Root Myn's 2.2 RLS3

Can/should i still run SetCPU profiles with this ROM and stock kernel? I use a few profiles for battery temp/remaining, and screen off. Do apps like WidgetLocker still work like they should (disabling standard lock screen)? I've just purchased SetCPU, WidgetLocker, Titanium Backup, and ROM Manager this week when i rooted. Would hate to lose functionality of them

The only reason that you shouldn't use SetCPU, is if you have Collin's battery tweak flashed. They do not work well with each other. I'm about to get rid of the battery tweak. Seems like it is worse on my battery and makes my phone "hot" at times.

To see if you have the battery tweak installed, download "Terminal Emulator"
http://www.appbrain.com/app/android-terminal-emulator/jackpal.androidterm
Then open it, type in "su". That will give you superuser rights. Then type in "batt-cfg". If you have the tweak, you'll get some number options. If not, you'll get nothing.

Well that was short lived - I had to nandroid restore already :( Once i flashed the launcherpro theme, I started getting random reboots (6 in 30 min). ROM manager was no longer installed, and almost every attempted download from the market forced a reboot (appbrain, dolphin HD, etc). I really liked the added features of the ROM, but its a deal breaker for me if I cant run LauncherPro. Maybe I should try to just extract the icons in the launcherpro theme zip file and install it from scratch? I did the data and cache wipe in ROM manager prior to flashing it, should i have done the factory reset method from Settings>SD&phn storage instead?

EDIT: Performed factory reset, manually entered recovery and flashed the ROM, then immediately installed LP theme, followed by dalvik wipe just to be safe. All's fine now, no reboots :)

I am really wanting to root my phone before 2.3 is pushed via OTA. My EVO is a build #003. Will Myn's TwoPointTwo work on this build version of the EVO? I want to take advantage of UnrEVOked3 before they fix whatever it is they are using to root so easily.

Go ahead and root your phone now, while you still can. You don't *HAVE* to install a custom ROM if you root, you just have that option available to you. There are people that are rooted and still running the Sprint ROM, and I haven't heard of any ill effects. That way when you decide what custom ROM you want to use, you'll be ready for it! :)

Good advice. In addition, owners of rooted Evos will most likely have 2.3 available to them before Sprint sends it OTA. Ported 2.1 ROMs that ran very well were available for rooted Heros at least two months before Sprint finally released it OTA, and I had a 100% fully functional 2.2 running on my Evo around two weeks before Sprint's release.

I've just rooted and installed myn's Warm 2.2 on my Evo this weekend. I also flashed the HTC_IME. I cannot get Swype to work and I'm wondering if it's the HTC_IME that's messing with it. Can anyone confirm? I'm new to the ROM scene. Is there anyway to simply remove the HTC_IME download, or would I need to reflash everything?

If that's not the Swype issue I'm having, does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might fix it?

I've now tried running ShapeWriter. It won't work either. Is there something incredibly simple that I'm missing? I'm using Handcent (but I tried the stock messaging app as well)...I don't see any options I can choose in there to setup a keyboard. The only thing I've done is to go into Language & keyboard and choose the keyboard. I get the popup that says it will be able to read my calls, etc. Doesn't work.

Ahhhh....maybe what you are missing is "long pressing" the text entry field???? You need to long press the entry field and then you will get a popup that says "input method". You then select that and then you can choose bewtween Swype or HTC_IME......hopefully that is the simple thing you are missing......

So just tried a second time to flash this .... and got an error message. I posted the whole thing over at XDA, I'm too lazy to repost it here, so here's the link t it. I'm starting to get really really frustrated with this whole thing, and considering going back to stock Sprint and being done with it. I've spent the entire day fighting with my mom's phone, my modem, my monitor, and now my phone. Not a good day by any stretch of the imagination.

If Handcent was on the phone after you flashed from CM6 to Myn, I'm going to assume that you did not do a wipe/reset. There has also been an ongoing debate as to whether ROM Manger/ClockworkMod wipes dalvik correctly. With CM6 being straight AOSP (btw, the latest version is now 6.1.0), I would back up a working ROM, backup all my apps and settings, flash the alternate RA recovery from the bottom of the ROM Manager menu, then redo the whole thing manually:

Reboot into recovery (should say RA-evo-v1.8.0 at the bottom)
Select Wipe
Wipe data/factory reset (I do this twice)
Wipe cache (also twice, but that's probably just me being paranoid)
Wipe Dalvik-cache (again, twice)
Return
Flash zip from sdcard
Select myn-WarmTwoPointTwo-11-05-2010-RLS3.zip
Reboot system now

You'll have to (hopefully) restore or (ugh) reinstall all of your your apps, screens and settings. Afterwards, you can flash back to ClockworkMod recovery from ROM Manager. Yes, I know, it sucks, but more often than not, AOSP and Sense ROMs don't work and play well with one another.

I'm loving everything about this ROM so far, except the font! Is there a way to flash new fonts without reflashing the entire ROM, I don't really wanna start over after I got everything back to the way it was before I flashed this ROM in regard to where all my widgets and shortcuts and settings and junk were before I installed Warm 2.2.....I would love to simply just flash a font pack, any ideas?

Also, April_Fool thanks for the push to just do it!

All i did was pasted the font zip onto my SD card, manually rebooted into recovery and selected the "flash zip from sd card" or whatever selection. When it rebooted, i had comfortaa font and all was gravy :) I didn't lose any data at all, the font was all that changed

What he said!!! Just flash it like you would a ROM. No need to wipe anything. There is a thread about fonts on this forum and there are some screen shots and some links to different font packs. The font packs are relatively small files so they download quickly and they flash in about a second. Give it a try.

I went into the HTC EVO chat room last night, and we worked on it over and over and over. I flashed over to the alternate recovery in ROM Manager, then wiped everything 2x, tried again, same error. So I formatted the sd card, moved *JUST* the ROM back onto it, wiped everything 3x, tried again ... same error. *BUT*, here's the weird part ... when I went to do a reboot to try it again, it booted up with the Warm bootscreen, and went into the ROM. It looked exactly like the screenshots on the post. So I've been messing around with it, and it seems like it may be working, even with that error message. No FC messages on startup, I can download stuff from the market, e-mail is coming through.

So it looks like it may have loaded correctly, but someone in the chat recommended I may want to try RUU and the reroot with unrevoked forever and try it again. Any thoughts on this?

I was going to suggest something similar. I would have wiped everything and flashed a stock ROM and then wiped and re-flashed Warm.

Unrooting and rooting again would really clear out the pipes but I guess if it were me I would try the stock ROM first.

I want to make sure I do this right, I don't want another 6 hour fight with my phone.

Download the stock ROM to SD card, reboot into recovery, full data wipe (factory reset, cache, dalvik or whatever it's called), install stock ROM, boot up, verify running OK, reboot into recovery, full data wipe, install Warm ROM, see if get error message?

I do best with specific directions like what exactly to do, if I can't have someone that I can watch to make sure I'm doing it correctly. I really don't want to brick this thing, so I want to make absolutely sure I'm doing the correct steps, in the correct order.

Unless someone has a different take, that is exactly what I would do. Your steps mirror the same steps that I would have taken. The only variation I might add is to do the full data wipe( data, cache, dalvik cache) two times BEFORE you flash the stock ROM and then only once BEFORE you flash Warm.

OK, so I got the download for the RUU (3.29.651.5 so I can re-root if needed), but it's an exe file, not a zip, so I can't use the ROM Manager to flash it, but when I try to run it through the computer, it starts the "Verifying information on your Andriod phone, please wait ...", then I get the error that "Error 170: USB Connection Error", cannot connect to phone, check that the phone is connected to USB cable (yup) and USB cable is connected to the PC (double yup). I have HTC Sync installed, so what am I missing?
